The 1967 Milwaukee Riot - 54 Years Ago
It's been 54 years since the Long Hot Summer of 1967.
The Summer of Love was also the summer of death, destruction, looting, and rioting in cities across the country, including Milwaukee.

Fifty-three years later, we have death, destruction, looting, and rioting in our cities, but it's very different.
Although the 2020 riots are hyped by Democrats and their media partners as "mostly peaceful protests," they aren't. They're riots by violent Marxist/anarchist groups determined to destroy property, divide the people, and overthrow the government.

This is just like Milwaukee.
An armed man ignores police and is shot.
Riot ensues.
Same old, same old.
James T. Harris makes a great point:
The President wants black folk to vote for Hillary. He said do it for me. Why doesn't Obama ask black folk to stop rioting... 4 him?😳
— James T Harris (@JamesTHarris) September 21, 2016
Good question.

SHARE:Sylville Smith's Sister, Sherelle Smith: Call For Peace
The death of Sylville Smith, the man killed by a Milwaukee police officer after he fled from police and refused to put down his gun, brought out rioters and looters in the city.
The rioters burned down businesses, burned out cars, fired guns, and hurled bricks and concrete, as well as verbal insults, at police.
Smith's sister, Sherelle Smith, had this reaction to the violence:
SHERELLE SMITH: Burnin' down shit ain't going to help nothin'! Y'all burnin' down shit we need in our community. Take that shit to the suburbs. Burn that shit down! We need our shit! We need our weaves. I don't wear it. But we need it.
CNN actually edited Smith's comments, claiming she was calling for peace when she said, "Don't bring the violence here."
CNN failed to mention that Smith was recommending taking the violence to the suburbs to "burn that shit down."
That's not a call for peace, CNN.

Barrett enforces of 10pm youth curfew
Clarke says Sherman Park closed at night: https://t.co/8up5EbKMUe
From News/Talk 1130 WISN:
One of the points driven home by the mayor was that the 10:00 p.m. weekday curfew for teenagers in the City of Milwaukee will be more strictly enforced. This is about protecting the law-abiding citizens of the Sherman Park neighborhood and the city of Milwaukee.
Sherman Park will be closed to the public at 6:00 p.m. Monday night, and reopen at 6:00 a.m. Tuesday, August 16th, according to the Milwaukee County Sheriff's Office.
It's the right thing to do.

Milwaukee Officer-Involved Shooting
What precipitated the violence in Milwaukee?
From WISN:
The violence near North Sherman Boulevard and West Burleigh Street exploded after a 23-year-old man was shot and killed by an officer following an afternoon traffic stop about a block away, on the 3200 block of North 44th Street, Capt. Mark Stanmeyer said.
Two people bolted from the car during that traffic stop, Stanmeyer said. An officer, a 24-year-old man with six years of service with the department, shot the victim during a foot chase. He died at the scene, and Stanmeyer said the semiautomatic handgun with which the man was armed was taken in a burglary in Waukesha in March of this year. The victim of that burglary reported that 500 rounds of ammunition were stolen with the handgun.
The man who was killed had a "lengthy arrest record," Stanmeyer said, though he did not offer details. The other person who police say ran from the car, another 23-year-old man, was taken into custody.
