Nezza posted a video on TikTok showing a Dodgers employee telling her of the team's preference to perform the national anthem in English. However, the singer decided to defy those wishes and perform the song in Spanish instead.

"We are going to do the song in English today," a Dodgers employee appeared to tell Nezza before the game. "I'm not sure if that wasn't relayed."

However, Nezza still performed the song in Spanish, but she was met with backlash after the performance.

"I didn't think I'd be met with any sort of like, no, especially because we're in L.A., and with everything happening."

Baby Nezza (Vanessa Hernández) was invited to perform the National Anthem in English before the Dodgers game.

She chose to sing in Spanish though she was told to sing in English. She chose to protest. She should accept the consequences of her defiance.

It's unfortunate that our National Anthem has been exploited to protest recently rather than being a few minutes of unity among Americans. At least she didn't take a knee.

If the 83-year-old lady, didn't understand Couric's question about Kaepernick and was clueless about the National Anthem protests, then this brilliant woman with a brilliant legal mind should have been capable of navigating the matter without Couric's "protection."

Couric's presumption was terribly condescending.

A U.S. hammer thrower turned away from the American flag as she stood on the medal podium at the Olympic trials during the national anthem on Saturday, saying she’s “pissed” the Star-Spangled Banner was played as she received her bronze medal.

Gwen Berry — who qualified for her second U.S. Olympic team during the trials — shifted to face the stands rather than the flag before holding up a black shirt that reads “Activist Athlete.”

“I feel like it was a set-up, and they did it on purpose,” Berry said of the timing of the anthem. “I was pissed, to be honest.”

“They had enough opportunities to play the national anthem before we got up there,” Berry said in Oregon, where the trials are being held. “I was thinking about what I should do. Eventually I stayed there and I swayed, I put my shirt over my head. It was real disrespectful.”

Berry went on to call the playing of the national anthem a “set up” and that she didn’t plan on staging a protest.

Gwen Berry was "pissed" so she made a fool of herself.

If the American flag and the National Anthem are so distasteful to her, I don't understand why Berry wants to be a part of the American Olympic team.

Why doesn't she throw her hammer under circumstances that wouldn't piss her off?

Mark Cuban told The Athletic it was his decision to eliminate the tradition of playing the anthem before games. The move went unnoticed through the first 13 combined preseason and regular-season games at American Airlines Center because the Mavericks did not publicize it, either within the organization or through an announcement to media. Monday marked the first game in which the Mavericks allowed a limited number of fans into their arena.

In a desperate damage control effort, the NBA ordered all teams to play the anthem before games.

When I saw this story early yesterday morning, before the NBA's order was circulated, I dismissed it as just more Leftist, "Hate America" crap.

The NBA is basically dead to me. I used to enjoy supporting the Bucks. Those days are over.

I don't care if the China-loving NBA plays the National Anthem before games. I don't care if its players protest. I don't care. I've lost interest in professional sports. They used to be a refuge from politics, where people would come together and have fun.

For me, the NBA, the NFL, and, I'm sad to say, the MLB have become politically divisive. I don't need that when I'm looking to be entertained.

I don't care if professional sports insist on pushing a Leftist political agenda. I have no problem cutting ties with them.

The NFL is going out of its way to divide us. Apparently, the league doesn't care.

We are all Americans and "The Star-Spangled Banner" is our national anthem.

I didn't know about the Black national anthem, "Lift Ev'ry Voice And Sing."

Does anyone know the title of the White national anthem? How about the Hispanic national anthem?

Do men and women have separate national anthems?

Is there a national anthem for kids? The elderly? The middle-aged? Do police officers have a national anthem?

I appear to be very uninformed.

So, Blacks will be honored with two anthems at all NFL games on the first week of the season.

Everyone else must be content with be represented by just "The Star-Spangled Banner."

And of course we'll probably have to deal with rich NFL players protesting and taking a knee during that.

This doesn't seem like a smart way for the NFL to go.

An American who medaled in fencing at the Pan American Games took a knee during the national anthem to protest racial and social injustice.

Race Imboden, who earned a bronze medal in the individual men’s foil event and a gold in the team competition, knelt as the national anthem was played during a medal ceremony during the competition Friday in Lima, Peru.

Imboden is pictured on the podium kneeling as his teammates Gerek Meinhardt and Nick Itkin are stand.

“This week I am honored to represent Team USA at the Pan Am Games, taking home Gold and Bronze,” Imboden said on Twitter following his protest. “My pride however has been cut short by the multiple shortcomings of the country I hold so dear to my heart."

Imboden, 26, added that "Racism, Gun Control, mistreatment of immigrants and a president who spreads hate" were atop the list of shortcomings he sees in the United States.

"I chose to sacrifie my moment today at the top of the podium to call attention to issues that I believe need to be addressed," he said. "I encourage others to please use your platforms for empowerment and change."

“Every athlete competing at the 2019 Pan American Games commits to terms of eligibility, including to refrain from demonstrations that are political in nature. In this case, Race didn’t adhere to the commitment he made to the organizing committee and the USOPC,” Mark Jones, U.S. Olympic and Paralympic Committee (USOPC) spokesman said in a statement, according to The Associated Press.

“We respect his rights to express his viewpoints, but we are disappointed that he chose not to honor his commitment. Our leadership are reviewing what consequences may result,” he added.
