Supreme Court Fails to Uphold Religious Liberty

Our country was founded on religious liberty. Without it, it falls apart.

This is not a conservative court.

Chief Justice John Roberts - Liberal

From FOX News:
The U.S. Supreme Court on Wednesday night blocked New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo from reimposing strict attendance caps at worship services in areas hit hard by the novel coronavirus.

The court ruled 5-4 to bar Cuomo from enforcing his Oct. 6 “Cluster Initiative” against houses of worship that sued to challenge the restrictions.

The order was also the first in which Justice Amy Coney Barrett played a decisive role.

...Cuomo's initiative had created color-coded limits on mass gatherings and business operations, in an effort to stem the outbreak in New York City areas that were experiencing a surge in cases, according to Bloomberg News.

...In the hardest-hit areas, which were designated red zones, the state limited attendance in houses of worship to 25% of their capacity or 10 people, whichever is fewer. The majority said his limits violated the First Amendment’s protection of the free exercise of religion.

...“It is time — past time — to make plain that, while the pandemic poses many grave challenges, there is no world in which the Constitution tolerates color-coded executive edicts that reopen liquor stores and bike shops but shutter churches, synagogues, and mosques,” wrote Gorsuch, who was also named to the court by President Trump.
The reason Justice Amy Coney Barrett "played a decisive role" is because Chief Justice John Roberts has lost his legal mind.

The real story here is not what would have happened in this decision if Ruth Bader Ginsburg were still alive, as many Democrats/Leftists are framing it.

The real story is that John Roberts, without a doubt, has joined the side of the Court that ignores the Constitution and rules as Leftist political players. The Supreme Court is not 6-3 conservative.

I don't really blame George W. Bush for his disastrous appointment of John Roberts. Bush said he would nominate justices like Antonin Scalia. Bush claimed to believe that justices should not legislate from the bench.

It did seem like Roberts would be that sort of justice. Time has shown that nothing could further from the truth.

Trump: Schumer 'Must Pay a Severe Price'

Democrats cannot keep behaving this way with impunity.

It's wrong.

Schumer Threatens Gorsuch and Kavanaugh

The Democrats have truly lost their minds.

They will do anything to assure the wholesale slaughter of innocent human life.

The crazed U.S. Senate minority leader Chuck Schumer actually threatens Supreme Court of the United States justices by name.

This is outrageous.

Schumer's inappropriate and dangerous behavior must have consequences.

Never Trumpers Uncomfortable with Trump's Success

David French, a Never Trumper, has to live with the fact that he was willing to accept Hillary Clinton as president.

Poor Mr. French.

He takes offense when Brit Hume tweets about the Supreme Court and Trump's election, noting that many in the Never Trump crowd considered Hillary Clinton to be preferable as president.

French claims he did not prefer Hillary, but it's undeniable that many did, including former Milwaukee talk radio host Charlie Sykes.

Sykes said, "In any other scenario, Hillary Clinton's lying about her emails, and her pay-for-play relationship with the Clinton Foundation would be disqualifying issues. The only reason they're not disqualifying is because Donald Trump is a fundamentally more repellent, dishonest figure."

The Never Trump people should acknowledge that had we not ignored what they had to say, Hillary would have been elected president and turned the Supreme Court into a Leftist judicial activist playground.

Of course, they won't acknowledge that.

Nuclear Option

The Democrats were going to block every Supreme Court nomination by President Trump. Without question, Gorsuch is qualified. The Democrats' opposition to him is baseless.

Elections have consequences. Hillary Clinton lost. Democrats do not control the House or the Senate. The American people gave Republicans the power. Democrats need to deal with that.

The Democrats' partisan filibuster of Supreme Court nominee Judge Neil Gorsuch was unprecedented in U.S. history. The Democrats are responsible for the rule change.
Every single Republican voted to invoke the Reid Rule, including some who had expressed a strong hesitancy to do so; that's how indefensible Democrats' conduct has been. The Senate will now reach cloture on the nomination with 51 votes, setting up a final confirmation tomorrow. It's over. Neil Gorsuch will be the next Associate Justice of the United States Supreme Court.
Since that's what it takes, nuke it up!

There was no other option.

Jimmy Fallon: Gorsuch Sees Dead People Joke

JIMMY FALLON: Supreme Court nominee Neil Gorsuch said he doesn't see judges as Democrats or Republicans, saying, 'I see judges.' When asked about the Republican health care plan, Gorsuch said, 'I see dead people.'

Jimmy Fallon: Neil Gorsuch Obituary, Health Care Plan Joke

JIMMY FALLON: Meanwhile, Supreme Court nominee Neil Gorsuch started his confirmation hearings this week, and he said that he has his law students think about their legacies by having them write an obituary about themselves. Incidentally, that's also part of the Republican health care plan. Morbid. They should take that out. I think it's a bad idea.

Neil Gorsuch and 'Fascism Forever' - FAKE NEWS

More FAKE NEWS.

It was reported and repeated and repeated that Supreme Court nominee Neil Gorsuch founded a club in high school called "Fascism Forever."

From Salon:

Supreme Court nominee founded and led a student club called “Fascism Forever,” while attending a private prep school in suburban Washington in the 1980s.

The yearbook of Georgetown Prep described the club as an anti-faculty student group that battled against the “liberal” views of the school administration, according to the UK Daily Mail.

“In political circles, our tireless President Gorsuch’s ‘Fascism Forever Club’ happily jerked its knees against the increasingly ‘left-wing’ tendencies of the faculty,” said the yearbook. Gorsuch led the club all four years he attended the elite all-boys Jesuit school in Bethesda, Maryland.

Gorsuch’s willingness to flaunt anti-democratic ideas in service of his conservative politics continued through his four years at Columbia University in New York City where he founded a chapter of the Federal Society, the conservative law network. His senior photo was accompanied by a “joke” from Henry Kissinger: “The illegal we do immediately. The unconstitutional takes a little longer.”

While Gorsuch’s teenage politics could—and no doubt will—be portrayed as “youthful indiscretion” or irreverence in the face of “political correctness,” they will certainly raise problems for Gorsuch’s nomination. Confirmation hearings of Supreme Court justices often focus on the elusive question of “temperament,” especially among Republic moderates in the Senate who will decide Gorsuch’s fate.

And it goes on.

It's all crap, fake news.

From Snopes:

[W]e contacted Georgetown Preparatory School to verify whether a "Fascism Forever" club operated in or around that school in 1985, and director of communications Patrick Coyle told us that “no such club ever existed" there.

Similarly, America magazine reported that the reference to the "“Fascism Forever" club in the yearbook was just a joke:

[Gorsuch] wrote that he founded and led the “Fascism Forever Club,” though those with knowledge of the school back in the 1980s say there was no such club. The mention of it in the yearbook was a tongue-in-cheek attempt to poke fun at liberal peers who teased him about his fierce conservatism.

It was “a total joke,” said Steve Ochs, a history teacher at Georgetown Prep who was the student government advisor during Mr. Gorsuch’s junior and senior years at the Bethesda, Md., school.

“There was no club at a Jesuit school about young fascists,” he told America. “The students would create fictitious clubs; they would have fictitious activities. They were all inside jokes on their senior pages.”

In a related rumor, Gorsuch reportedly once said, "our clear goal must be the advancement of the white race and separation of the white and black races ... this goal must include freeing of the American media and Government from subservient Jewish interests." That phrasing originated with the WikiQuote page for Ku Klux Klan member and notorious white separatist David Duke and has not been attributed to Gorsuch by any credible source.
"Fascism Forever" was trending on Twitter. The Leftists bought into that "news" as factual.

Way to push FAKE NEWS, Salon!

Jimmy Fallon: Neil Gorsuch Jokes

JIMMY FALLON: Last night, President Trump nominated Colorado appeals judge Neil Gorsuch to the Supreme Court. That's right, he's from Colorado, which explains his most famous case, Regular Funyuns vs. Flamin' Hot Funyuns. 'I hereby rule that they're both awesome!'

We're now learning a little bit more about Neil Gorsuch. For instance, I read that he actually has a barn where he raises horses, chickens, and goats. That experience will come in handy when he spends the rest of his life sidestepping all the crap in Washington.

Listen to this: Ahead of last night's big Supreme Court announcement, President Trump brought both of his top two candidates to the White House. Trump said, 'One of you will be the nominee, the other will go home crying in the back of a limo.' Why would you do that? He did it! Trump also brought his second choice, Thomas Hardiman, all the way to Washington because he wanted to build suspense for the announcement.

Here's what the two of them had to say after the big reveal.

First, Gorsuch said: "This is, without a doubt, the greatest honor of my life."

Then, Hardiman said: "What the hell just happened?"

Next, Gorsuch said: "This is a dream come true."

And Hardiman said: "This is the cruelest thing anyone could do. It's like inviting me to a party, then not putting my name on the list."

Finally, Gorsuch said: "I can't express how happy I am."

While Hardiman said: "I can't express how much I regret getting a lower back tattoo that says, 'Justice Supreme!'"

I know it's a joke, but fake news is fake news.

Judge Hardiman didn't drive to DC
In the end, Judge Thomas Hardiman only drove a few hours east of Pittsburgh.

"The reality is that to the best of my knowledge he never left the state of Pennsylvania," White House spokesman Sean Spicer said Tuesday night after the announcement. "He never was in DC, nor did he ever leave the commonwealth."

Right Wisconsin and Neil Gorsuch

Regarding the insufferable Never Trump crowd of Wisconsin, I just want to put this out there.

Overall, I have chosen to disregard the Never Trump people since the election. They lost. They're irrelevant. They're not worth my time. But, this needs to be addressed. Although I'm pointing out the obvious, sometimes that needs to be done.

Today, Right Wisconsin, the self-identified conservative outlet, is singing the praises of President Donald Trump's Supreme Court nominee Neil Gorsuch.

[I]f he is confirmed Gorsuch will do more than fulfill a campaign promise by President Donald Trump. He will provide the swing vote on the court to stop a Progressive erosion of the meaning of the Constitution.

Perhaps the Democrats will drop their objections to Gorsuch when they realize that many of them failed to object to his appointment to the Appeals court. Probably not. At one time that would have been enough for the opposition party to approve such a qualified nominee. But Democratic base politics will mean Republicans will have a hard time getting the necessary Democrats to defect to end a filibuster.

We could really use Margaret Thatcher right now to caution Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell that now is definitely not the time to go wobbly.

A few deep breaths first. OK.

During the election of 2016, Right Wisconsin was leading the troops against Trump, doing all they could to defeat the Republican nominee for president, which would have assured a Hillary Clinton victory.

Supreme Court be damned. It didn't matter because Trump was going to blow up the country, literally, according to a Right Wisconsin leader.

Now, Right Wisconsin has the audacity to evoke Margaret Thatcher. Right Wisconsin has the audacity to warn Mitch McConnell about going wobbly.

ARE YOU KIDDING ME???

First and foremost, Neil Gorsuch is why I voted for Donald Trump.

Wisconsin Trump voters, however reluctant, were incessantly chastised by the condescending Never Trump Wisconsin voices for our unconscionable support of this "fundamentally more repellent, dishonest figure" than Hillary Clinton. That was their stance and they never let up. They were principled. They behaved honorably.

GIVE ME A BREAK!

(Writing in caps, that's yelling.)

HELL YEAH, I'M YELLING!

The Right Wisconsin crew and allies warned potential Trump voters that Trump couldn't be trusted to nominate an originalist to the Supreme Court. WRONG!

As Trump noted in his brief address to the American people last night, he knows that Supreme Court nominees were critical in the decision process of many in the 2016 presidential election. He said, "Millions of voters said this was the single most important issue to them when they voted for me for president."

That's correct.

Trump delivered on his promise.

When I watched Judge Gorsuch speak last night, I kept thinking that it could have been Hillary and her radical Leftist nominee up there.

Because of a campaign strategy that worked and because of millions of people that voted like me, we have bolstered the Constitution for future generations.

Right Wisconsin and the Never Trump crowd tried to prevent that. They were willing to surrender the Supreme Court to the radical Leftists.

And they think they can lecture Republicans about going wobbly?

SERIOUSLY?

NO.

No, you can't, at least not without acknowledging that YOU actively sought the defeat of Donald Trump, the Republican nominee for president.

YOU can thank US for not going wobbly when it comes to principles and conservatism.

Trump Nominates Neil Gorsuch

Elections have consequences.

I hope this serves as a reminder of the consequences of defeating Hillary Clinton.

It's the Supreme Court, stupid.
