I understand being hounded by paparazzi must be disturbing, but as the death of Harry's mother showed, attempting to get away from them can be catastrophic.

It's not necessary to inflate the truth. This seems to be just another very calculated effort by Harry and Meghan to grab attention and garner sympathy.
