Our Long National Nightmare is Over

Rosie O'Donnell's stormy days at The View are history.

NEW YORK -- Rosie O'Donnell has fought her last fight at `The View.' ABC said Friday she won't be back on the show following her angry confrontation with co-host Elisabeth Hasselbeck on Wednesday.

O'Donnell asked for, and received, an early exit from her contract. She was due to leave "The View" in mid-June.

Thank you, ABC!
"Rosie contributed to one of our most exciting and successful years at `The View,'" show creator Barbara Walters said. "I am most appreciative. Our close and affectionate relationship will not change."

I don't understand why Barbara Walters has debased herself by carrying water for O'Donnell.

Walters' credibility is in tatters.

In a statement, O'Donnell said she was grateful. "It's been an amazing year and I love all three women."

Presumably, that includes Hasselbeck. The two exchanged bitter words on Wednesday over O'Donnell's opposition to the war in Iraq. They've frequently had snippy political exchanges during O'Donnell's year on the daytime chatfest, but never as long and loud as that one.

"Long national nightmare is over..." I thought you were referring to McBride getting canned. Oh well.

I am sorry to see Rosie go. And to the people that have awful things about her like "you are a person made up of "Dung" and "fat cow'. Is that really helpful?

No matter what you think of Rosie she clearly loves our country and supports the troops. I don't agree with everything she says but she does have people talking. Hopefully something good will come out of it.

I wish you the best Rosie.

Rosie loves our country?? The same country that I live in that is based on "In God We Trust?"...nope, Rosie loves Rosie and Rosie's adgenda. She could have used her celebrity to do so much more, but instead she will go down in history being remembered for an unstable woman who picked on other people who didn't agree with her view....all because she could. Talk about abuse of power.

Thank God it is over. I don't know what Barbara was thinking when she let her into her show. I was concerned that poor Elizabeth was going to lose her child, she got so upset. Lets move on in peace.

You could catch McBride over the internet. You know, the world wide web. You should check it out sometime. Oh wait, you're on it right now.

RosieO lamented the fact that she was like "the foster child that never fit in." Well, when you scream at the other kids, throw temper tantrums, and embarrass the rest of the "family" in public on a daily basis, no, you're not going to fit in.

Face it Rosie: You wanted to take over the show, make it your own to spout your insane 9/11 Truther conspiracy theories, and generally make a fool out of yourself. And now you pay the consequences. It's called "life", Rosie. Get over it. And get over yourself.

I stream broadcasts on a daily basis. (Have you checked out the "listen live" links on my sidebar?)

And yes, I'm sure that's exactly what you were thinking -- McBride's massive national, make that worldwide, audience. Her show brought such enormous national attention to WTMJ that the station decided to fire her.

Yeah, that's the ticket.

To get back on topic-- I agree, Fourpointer. It was only a matter of time before O'Donnell imploded.
