Islamic Militants Plug New Bin Laden Video

Osama bin Laden's followers are hyping a new video release from the al Qaeda head honcho.

CAIRO, Egypt -- Osama bin Laden will release a new video in the coming days ahead of the sixth anniversary of the Sept. 11 attacks in what would be the first new images of the terror mastermind in nearly three years, al-Qaida's media arm announced Thursday.

The White House said any new video from bin Laden would serve to highlight threats the West faces. Analysts noted that al-Qaida tends to mark the Sept. 11 anniversary with a slew of messages, and the Department of Homeland Security said it had no credible information warning of an imminent threat to the United States.

Are we supposed to be afraid?

Bin Laden is making a miscalculation.

He still thinks that Americans care about the terrorist threat.

He doesn't realize that many Americans have finally caught on to the fact that the War on Terror is just a political slogan, a bumper sticker concocted by the Bush Administration. It's not real. It's a scheme to play on our fears.

We're not afraid of bin Laden, not anymore.

Still, bin Laden's appearance would be significant. The al-Qaida leader has not appeared in new video footage since October 2004, and he has not put out a new audiotape in more than a year, his longest period without a message.

One of bin Laden's audiotaped messages that really stands out in my mind is the one from January 19. 2006.

As he speaks to the American people, he echoes what the Democrats routinely say about President Bush and the policies of his administration.

Bin Laden sounded like he was on the DNC's payroll.

(Excerpts)

[W]hat prompted me to speak are the repeated fallacies of your President Bush in his comment on the outcome of the US opinion polls, which indicated that the overwhelming majority of you want the withdrawal of the forces from Iraq, but he objected to this desire and said that the withdrawal of troops would send a wrong message to the enemy.

...The torturing of men has reached the point of using chemical acids and electric drills in their joints. If they become desperate with them, they put the drill on their heads until death.

If you like, read the humanitarian reports on the atrocities and crimes in the prisons of Abu Ghraib and Guantanamo.

I say that despite all the barbaric methods, they have failed to ease resistance, and the number of mujahideen, praise be to God, is increasing.

In fact, reports indicate that the defeat and devastating failure of the ill-omened plan of the four - Bush, Cheney, Rumsfeld, and Wolfowitz - and the announcement of this defeat and working it out, is only a matter of time, which is to some extent linked to the awareness of the American people of the magnitude of this tragedy.

The wise ones know that Bush has no plan to achieve his alleged victory in Iraq.

If you compare the small number of the dead when Bush made that false and stupid show-like announcement from an aircraft carrier on the end of the major operations, to many times as much as this number of the killed and injured, who fell in the minor operations, you will know the truth in what I am saying, and that Bush and his administration do not have neither the desire nor the will to withdraw from Iraq for their own dubious reasons.

To go back to where I started, I say that the results of the poll satisfy sane people and that Bush's objection to them is false.

His ramblings about Bush's poll numbers, the aircraft carrier "Mission Accomplished" thing, Abu Ghraib, and Gitmo are indistinguishable from the ramblings of the Dems.
One difference in his appearance was immediately obvious. The announcement had a still photo from the coming video, showing bin Laden addressing the camera, his beard fully black. In his past videos, bin Laden's beard was almost entirely gray with dark streaks.

Bin Laden's beard appears to have been dyed, a popular practice among Arab leaders, said Rita Katz, director of the SITE Institute, a Washington-based group that monitors terror messages.

"I think it works for their (al-Qaida's) benefit that he looks young, he looks healthy," Katz said.

BIG NEWS!

Bin Laden has washed away the gray.

He might be using Just for Men products to give him that healthy, youthful appearance.

That reminds me of Saddam Hussein with his hair dye obsession.

These tyrants and terrorists can be so vain.

...IntelCenter, which monitors Islamic Web sites and analyzes terror threats, said the video was expected within the next 72 hours, before the sixth anniversary of the Sept. 11, 2001 suicide hijacker attacks on the World Trade Center and the Pentagon.

The anniversary has always been a major media event for al-Qaida — a chance for it to drum up support among extremists, tout itself as the leading militant group and show off its continued survival.

"They've always gone out of their way to commemorate it," said Ben Venzke, chief executive officer of IntelCenter, which is based in Alexandria, Va. "Historically the anniversary of 9-11 has never been drawn to attacks. It's drawn to video releases."

What does it say about us that the terrorists go out of their way to commemorate 9/11, but some Americans have grown weary of recognizing the anniversary?

Al Qaeda doesn't suffer from "9/11 fatigue."

It's a day to rally the faithful -- the sick, murderous faithful.

So the world awaits bin Laden's message and a good look at his black beard.

I'm counting the hours.

Maybe he'll endorse a U.S. presidential candidate in his message.

I think he'd be likely to throw his support behind a Democrat, someone sympathetic to the plight of terrorists.

An endorsement from bin Laden could really jump-start the campaign of Dennis Kucinich.

Bin Laden really should thank the Dems and the lib media for working tirelessly to help his cause. He should give credit where credit is due.
