Joe Wurzelbacher and Barack Obama: 'Spread the Wealth Around'

Neil Cavuto interviewed Joe Wurzelbacher.

Who is Joe Wurzelbacher?

He's probably the most famous plumber in America at the moment.

Over the weekend, Wurzelbacher confronted Barack Obama about his tax plan.

Outside Toledo, Ohio, on Sunday, Sen. Barack Obama, D-Ill., was approached by plumber Joe Wurzelbacher, a big, bald man with a goatee who asked Obama if he believes in the American dream.

"I'm getting ready to buy a company that makes 250 to 280 thousand dollars a year," Wurzelbacher said. "Your new tax plan is going to tax me more, isn't it?"

After some back and forth, Obama said:
..."My attitude is that if the economy’s good for folks from the bottom up, it’s gonna be good for everybody. If you’ve got a plumbing business, you’re gonna be better off if you’ve got a whole bunch of customers who can afford to hire you, and right now everybody’s so pinched that business is bad for everybody and I think when you spread the wealth around, it’s good for everybody."

Cavuto asked if Obama won him over.

Wurzelbacher told Cavuto that he wasn't thrilled with Obama's answer.

He said that rather than winning him over, Obama's answer "scared" him even more.

Wurzelbacher said, "I'm not trying to make statements here, but I mean, that's kind of a socialist viewpoint."

In sum, he said that Obama's plan doesn't embody the American dream.

I think Wurzelbacher makes an important point.

Some Americans do find the thought of Barack Obama as president of the United States to be a frightening prospect.

It's not because they're afraid of his name or his race or the fact that he doesn't look like the presidents on our currency.

It's because he wants to raise our taxes, take away more of the money we've worked hard to earn, and "spread the wealth around."

Why work long hours? Why not take it easy, sit back, and get a handout?

Is that the new American Dream under Obama?

Not all change is good.

According to a WSJ article, that's exactly what Obama's 95% tax cut plan will accomplish.

Seeing what was coming, (Obama and a Democrat Congress) our family retooled, cut back and started dropping out last year. We don't make enough to continue to bust our butts and then have the government take an even bigger chunk of it to piss it away. When we retooled and got rid of debt we figured how we could live comfortably without paying much tax.

Living a simple life is just fine with us. We don't have the need to have all of the trappings of a status seeking life.

I hope at tonight's debate McCain says what he needs to say to the American people.

He must direct the discussion and tell people what an Obama presidency would mean.

HIGHER TAXES.

And higher taxes for the wealthy and corporations, will be passed down as higher prices for the average consumer.

When taxes go up, it hurts everyone eventually.

American Dream, American Shmeam.

McCain is hurt because all of the NON-PARTISON groups say that the Obama tax plan does not raise taxes but rather lowers them for most of Americans, and isn't solicalist. Whereas McCains plan will cause more massive DEBT which we need to resolve, and cost people health care benefits with his tax.

You decide for yourself. This is Obama's
Eliminate capital gains taxes for small businesses, cut corporate taxes for firms that invest and create
jobs in the United States, and provide tax credits to reduce the cost of healthcare and to reward
investments in innovation.
Under the Obama Plan:
• Middle class families will see their taxes cut – and no family making less than $250,000 will see
their taxes increase. The typical middle class family will receive well over $1,000 in tax relief under
the Obama plan, and will pay tax rates that are 20% lower than they faced under President Reagan.i
According to the Tax Policy Center, the Obama plan provides three times as much tax relief for middle
class families as the McCain plan.ii Indeed, according to the National Review, McCain’s plan “offers
very little in the way of direct benefits to Americans in the middle of the income scale.”
• Families making more than $250,000 will pay either the same or lower tax rates than they paid in
the 1990s. Obama will ask the wealthiest 2% of families to give back a portion of the taxes they have
received over the past eight years to ensure we are restoring fairness and returning to fiscal
responsibility. But no family will pay higher tax rates than they would have paid in the 1990s. In fact,
dividend rates would be 39 percent lower than what President Bush proposed in his 2001 tax cut.

Joe Wurzelbacher No offense, I think you should do a little research. I am a small business owner too.

How to hurt the economy: Raise taxes.

In the end, Obama's plan will spread the pain around.

If you fall within the 5% of Americans that make over $250,000/year, then by all means you should vote for McCain if you think it might benefit you. Obama's plan will not benefit everybody - only the majority.

The last big boom we had in small business growth came in the 90's. It didn't come from innovation due to tax cuts for corporations, but from middle class people that had extra money in their pockets that were willing to take a chance on internet start-ups. Their innovations turned into successful small businesses and those innovations and successes eventually funneled upwards to the larger corporations. We should not forget where these small business started.

It's exciting to think we might actually see a repeat of new small business start-ups becoming possible once again in environmental technologies, but I don't think it can be done at the same speed or capacity with a weak middle class.

The Obama forces are in full spin mode.

Higher taxes for anyone eventually impacts everyone.

I`m not a Republican, but I think McCain is absolutely right here. It is just immoral to steal people`s money and to give it to someone else, even if the other person is poorer. I you want to help someone, earn money on your own and give it to the people from which you think they need it.

Enough, "feodor."

You're a troll. You're spamming my blog.

Michelle Malkin: "Next, they falsely accused Wurzelbacher of not being registered to vote -- he's registered in Lucas County, Ohio, and voted as a Republican in this year's primary."

More: "[S]uddenly, the journalists who wouldn’t lift a finger to investigate Barack Obama’s longtime relationships with Weather Underground terrorist Bill Ayers and Jeremiah Wright sprang into action rifling through citizen Joe Wurzelbacher’s tax records. Politico.com reported breathlessly: “Samuel J. Wurzelbacher has a lien placed against him to the tune of $1,182.92. The lien is dated from January of ‘07.” Press outlets probed his divorce records. The local plumbers’ union, which has endorsed Obama, claimed he didn’t do their required apprenticeship work and didn’t have a license to work outside his local township."

Malkin has a great line: "Welcome to Joe the Plumber Derangement Syndrome. If you can’t beat him, smear him. It’s the Obama way."
