Occupy Portland: Sexual Assault

Sexual predators may find Occupy Portland to be a dream come true.

The Occupy Portland General Assembly gives instructions on how to handle sexual crimes at the occupation. Witnesses of sexual assault are not to contact the police unless the victim gives permission.

Video:

PROTEST ORGANIZER: If there are any incidents of sexual violence, we want to stress again confidentiality is really, really, really, really important. Don't release any information that the survivor hasn't directly communicated that they wanted released.

...

The policy regarding contacting the police is if the survivor wants us to contact the police, then the sexual assault response team will contact them. If they don't want to contact the police, nobody should contact the police.

Our policy is we do whatever the survivor wants, and we don't do anything that the survivor hasn't directly asked us to do.

In other words, don't report crime. It's up to the victim to initiate any sort of contact with the police. NO police involvement.

If incidents go unreported, police are not apprehending perpetrators. They're free to commit more crimes and are a threat to the public at large.

These occupations are like mini-societies suffering the complete breakdown of order.

Why aren't the mainstream media outlets covering this lawlessness and dysfunction?

By failing to inform the public of the crimes taking place at the occupations, they're misleading Americans about the nature of the protests. It's dishonest.
