A few days ago, Kevin Hart was announced as host of the Academy Awards in February 2019.
Now, he's out.
Kevin Hart deleted his old homophobic tweets after facing backlash and took to Instagram to share this. https://t.co/MkGdJGUu2u pic.twitter.com/88n8lqZPD6

Although it's being reported that Kevin Hart wouldn't apologize for his tweets from nearly ten years ago, this sounds like an apology to me.
I have made the choice to step down from hosting this year's Oscar's....this is because I do not want to be a distraction on a night that should be celebrated by so many amazing talented artists. I sincerely apologize to the LGBTQ community for my insensitive words from my past.

I'm sorry that I hurt people.. I am evolving and want to continue to do so. My goal is to bring people together not tear us apart. Much love & appreciation to the Academy. I hope we can meet again.

So, Kevin Hart won't be hosting. Who will be able to pass the litmus test to host the Oscars?
Certainly not Alec Baldwin.
Lucky for Baldwin he hosted the Oscars in 2010.
