The NBA’s careful emphasis on China was jolted off course when Houston Rockets general manager Daryl Morey tweeted an image with the words “Fight for Freedom. Stand with Hong Kong." https://t.co/y6rn1RVWcx

The NBA has no problem with China's human rights abuses. In fact, the league bows down to China.
Pathetic.
Adam Silver, NBA commissioner, likes to talk about social responsibility and speaking up on important issues.
From CNN:
Under Silver's leadership the NBA pulled the 2017 All-Star Game out of Charlotte, North Carolina over a law restricting bathroom use for transgender people that was widely criticized as discriminatory.I guess the NBA is OK with China's rampant abuses and oppression. Standing with Hong Kong is just too inconvenient.
"I think in this day and age, you really do have to stand for something," Silver said.
Punishing North Carolina was easy. Apparently, kissing China's butt is easy, too.
From the Los Angeles Times:
The Brooklyn Nets’ scheduled visit to a Shanghai area school has been canceled by the Chinese government, according to an NBA official.
The cancellation is the latest in a series of fractures between the NBA and one of its largest markets after Houston Rockets general manager Daryl Morey tweeted support for protesters in Hong Kong on Friday evening.
And while the tweet was quickly deleted, the reaction from China has been swift and severe, with the Rockets going from one of the country’s favorite teams to a blacklisted one almost overnight.
Two takeaways from this dust-up:
China is an oppressive regime.
The NBA does not represent the values of our country.
