Shakira, Jennifer Lopez Super Bowl Halftime Show

Shakira and Jennifer Lopez put on a dazzling halftime show.

However, it included mixed messages that made it somewhat unsettling.

While I'm sure many in the audience were thoroughly entertained, it was not family entertainment.

Here's full video:

Girl Power?

I don't think so.

Given the adult nature of the performance, I was uncomfortable with the use of kids.

(Yes, I realize some were in cages. Wow, how woke! What a statement! What a load!)

The little girls accompanying Shakira and Jennifer Lopez, including her daughter, were not an empowering symbol. It was creepy to trot out the kids on stage after all the stripper pole moves and other family-unfriendly suggestive choreography.

It's difficult to be credible promoting the empowerment of women when dancing around in a manner that focuses on the sexual objectification of women.
