Ginsburg's 'Fervent Wish'

On Friday evening, shortly after hearing the news break that Ruth Bader Ginsburg had died, I heard that NPR reported Ginsburg's deathbed wish.

It was an immediate politicization of her passing. I thought it was shocking and unseemly and a disservice to the nation.

An individual of great significance, as all individuals are of great significance, had passed away and the death was framed in political terms.

Very sad, but so be it.

Ginsburg's alleged "fervent wish" is completely irrelevant. Completely.

There's nothing about honoring a "fervent wish" in the Constitution.

We don't run the judicial branch of our government based on Ginsburg's alleged "fervent wish."

Ginsburg did not choose to retire during Obama's term. It was her choice. Actions have consequences that cannot be wished away.
