Twitter users with the allegedly "coveted blue checkmark" will have to check their egos and pony up with $8 a month to keep it.
Anyone can get verified. Twitter rulers will no longer determine which users are worthy of the blue checkmark. In effect, Twitter users decide if they want to pay for the benefits of Blue status.
No one is being deplatformed or punished or censored. There still is no charge to use Twitter.
Some egos will take a bit of a beating. I don't have a problem with that.
Level the playing field.
