The government is a corrupt, bloated mess.
It needs to be cleaned up and trimmed down.
Why be afraid of rooting out crooks and making government more efficient and accountable to the people?
Crooks don't want to stop being crooks. Abusers don't want to stop being abusers. The powerful don't want to become powerless.
