Johnny Carson Knew Why He Was on TV

I wish current day talk show hosts like Colbert and Kimmel would take the advice of Johnny Carson.

Johnny Carson did talk politics on The Tonight Show, but he never was a cheerleader for either political party. He made tons of jokes about the president occupying the Oval Office, whether Democrat or Republican, but he never campaigned or lectured.
Johnny knew his job was to entertain. He did it so well that no one has come close to achieving his stature on late night TV, and his final Tonight Show was 33 years ago.

Johnny Carson Knew Why He Was on TV
