It's possible Jake Tapper made an innocent mistake, that he simply misspoke. However, given his record of failing to tell the truth, given that he actively engages in deception, I don't think Tapper deserves the benefit of the doubt.

It took five years to get Brian Cole Jr. This bomber was free while the FBI focused on rounding up and jailing nonviolent Americans who were at the Capitol on January 6, 2021.
There has been a massive cover-up in this case. Christopher Wray and Merrick Garland sat on information and kept Cole from being arrested.
