Kerry, Dee Dee, and Juan

Here is a very brief briefing on today's Sunday morning shows. I only caught enough to hear a few comments and note a few images.

Meet the Press

Ted Kennedy was Tim Russert's first guest. I missed it, but I'll get back to that later.

I did see Dee Dee Myers as part of the roundtable. All I could think of was how she went out on the late night circuit, as an ex-press secretary, to defend Bill Clinton during his months of lying about lying under oath.

I remember Dee Dee insisting on Politically Incorrect, "There is no blue dress."

And true to form, Russert fed his anti-Rumsfeld obsession and showed the clip of President Bush saying, "I'm the decider."

When Russert talks about Rumsfeld, he looks absolutely demonic. It creeps me out.

Face the Nation (Is that still on?)

Bob "I love Katie Couric" Schieffer also showed the "I'm the decider" clip. It appears that was the most significant thing that the leader of the Free World said this past week.

FOX News Sunday

I saw very little, but just enough to catch Juan Williams really yelling at Brit Hume. Poor Juan seemed very agitated.

Wallace ended the segment with the disclaimer that he is only responsible for asking the questions, not answering them.

It appeared to have been quite a brawl.

This Week

I just saw the final seconds of George Stephanopoulos' segment with presidential wannabe John Kerry. Steph was thanking him for being his guest.

From what I could see of Kerry in that extremely short take, he was creaseless. I believe that he had just paid a visit to the Botox farm or ABC was using the Barbara Walters lighting on him. Either way, he looked unnatural and had the glow of an undertaker's makeup work.

NewsBusters has an interesting bit of the interview.

In addition to the transcript portion, Noel Sheppard reminds readers that Mary McCarthy made a large donation to KERRY'S failed 2004 campaign.

Sheppard also points out, "In reality, donations to Kerry and other Democrats by McCarthy and a man believed to be her husband likely totaled $7,500 in 2004 as
described by NewsBuster Christopher Fotos and the JustOneMinute blog."

So, Steph is interviewing Kerry, asking for his comments on McCarthy the Leaker, and he fails to even mention that she financially supported Kerry's bid for the presidency.

That's a major omission.

Stephanopoulos: On another -- on another front, excuse me, a CIA official Mary McCarthy lost her job this week for disclosing classified information according to the CIA probably about a "Washington Post" story which revealed the existence of secret prisons in Europe. A lot of different views on this. Your colleague Senator Pat Roberts has praised the action. But some former CIA officers have described Mary McCarthy as a sacrificial lamb who is acting in the finest American tradition by revealing human rights violations. What's your view?

Kerry: Well, I read that. I don't know whether she did it or not. So, I mean it's hard to have a view on that. But here's my fundamental view about this: that you have somebody being fired from the CIA for allegedly telling the truth, and you have no one fired from the White House for revealing a CIA agent in order to support a lie. That underscores what's really wrong in Washington, D.C. here.

Stephanopoulos: That's one issue of hypocrisy but should the CIA officer be able to make decisions on his or her own...

Kerry: Of course not. Of course, not. Look the CIA agent has an obligation to uphold the law and clearly leaking is against the law, and nobody should leak. I abhor leaking. I don't like it. But if you're leaking to tell the truth, Americans are going to look at that, at least mitigate or think about what are the consequences that you, you know, put on that person. Obviously they're not going to keep their job, but there are other larger issues here. You know, classification in Washington is a tool that is used to hide the truth from the American people. Daniel Patrick Moynihan was eloquent and forceful in always talking about how we needed to, you know, end this endless declassification that takes place in this state, and it has become a tool to hide the truth from Americans.

Stephanopoulos: These --

Kerry: So I'm glad she told the truth but she's going to obviously have to -- if she did it, if she did it -- suffer the consequences of breaking the law.

What a hodgepodge of mishmash of flip-flopping!

Allow me to clarify and cut through the trademark Kerry verbal meandering--

Kerry believes that leaking classified information that has done harm to the country's efforts to thwart terrorism and protect the American people was a good thing.

But, McCarthy should be held accountable for breaking the law.

Does too much Botox affect the brain?
