Howell Raines

Howell Raines is delusional.

The former executive editor of The New York Times appeared on The Charlie Rose Show, hawking his new book.

What a blowhard!

He actually believes that The Times does not have a liberal bias. Listening to him talk, I think he sincerely is unaware that the publication has a dramatic liberal slant.

Clueless. Absolutely clueless.

Raines discussed the "quality journalism" of The Times versus the "bad journalism" of FOX News with guest interviewer Walter Isaacson.

He stated that FOX isn’t fair and balanced. He considers FOX to be partisan, and a disseminator of right-wing propaganda.

I just about gagged on that.

In Raines' world, The Times is fair and has no political agenda, but FOX should be faulted as biased and setting a dangerous precedence in journalism.

The liberal rag that has been shamed repeatedly in recent years by its shoddy reporting and reckless leaks is quality stuff as opposed to what FOX offers.

The man genuinely seemed to be disconnected from reality.

He then went on to say that George H.W. Bush was a nice guy, but George W. has "no impulse toward giving back to the society that's been so kind to him."

He oozed disgust for the President.

BUT--

The New York Times is an objective, reliable source of news, incorporating the highest standards of quality journalism.

GAG!
