Extreme Lies about John Gard

The Democratic Party of Wisconsin continues to intentionally mislead the public about John Gard.

From an
August 17 DPW press release:

John Gard is at it again. In his latest campaign TV ad, Gard tries to trick voters into believing that he is a champion of women’s health care rights and that he supports research to find cures to diseases like Alzheimer’s.

But the truth is, John Gard has an extreme record in the state Assembly on women’s health care issues and wants to shut down stem cell research – the very research that has the most potential to cure deadly diseases like Alzheimer’s.

As Speaker of the Assembly, Gard has advanced an extreme Republican agenda that has sought to roll back women’s health care rights and ban life-saving stem cell research.

“John Gard has perhaps one of the most anti-women, anti-research records in the state Legislature,” said Joe Wineke, Chair of the Democratic Party of Wisconsin. “It’s clear Gard knows he can’t win with his extreme record, so he’s trying to trick voters into believing he’s someone he’s not. But he won’t get away with trying to hide his true record.”

These are lies.

Gard is not a misogynist bent on harming women's health. The DPW makes him sound like a member of the Taliban.

Furthermore, Gard does not want to "shut down stem cell research." How many times does that have to be said?

I guess it has to be said every time the Dems lie to Wisconsin voters.

So much of what's in yesterday's DPW anti-Gard press release was already put out in a
Planned Parenthood press release on August 10.

The same bills are cited. The same rhetoric is used.

Same old, same old -- LIES.

Well, you neglect to read between the lines in the press release. What the DPW did was use ambiguous arguments, which you, naturally, read what you wanted to hear and claimed them to be lies.

When it said Gard wants to roll back women's health care rights, what they meant was that Gard wants to criminalize abortion, which is true. While abortion is disgusting and wrong in this author's eyes, the lesser of 2 evils is allowing abortion to remain legal. Back in the sexual revolution of the 60s and 70s, many women got pregnant and wanted to continue with their flagrant promiscuous sex and drug use. Many used coat hangers on themselves to perform their own abortions. Doctors performed illegal abortions on people. Many women ended up with infections that they died from. Many women committed suicide due to unplanned pregnancies. If you truly want abortion to become illegal, you are outright admitting that the above activities would be better than the current system.

The second argument is also ambiguous in that Gard is against stem cell progress, which is true. Gard would rather have extra fetuses from fertility clinics destroyed than to have them used for stem cell research. It is possible that these cells could be used to cure diseases that adult stem cells can't be used for. The only way to know for sure is to actually perform the research. The only reason I can think why anyone would want to hinder progress in research is that there is no money in curing diseases, only in the treatment. This country needs to take a step in the right direction and consider health care progress instead of earning potential. That is one thing Republicans will never do.

What you consider to be "ambiguous arguments," I consider to be deceptions, an intentional attempt to mislead the public (AKA lies).

It is disingenuous for the DPW to assert that Gard is against protecting the health of women.

Regarding abortion, I believe its regulation should be decided by the states. Overturning Roe (which isn't going to happen) would not mean that abortion would become illegal. It would throw the matter back to the states. Remember even prior to Roe, abortion was legal in some states. Your back alley abortion scare tactics are completely unfounded.

Furthermore, it is a flat out lie to claim that Gard is against stem cell progress. LIE.

Research progress can be made while also protecting human life. Finding cures and treatments and protecting life are not mutually exclusive.

Doyle is so extreme that he's for human cloning.

Those big bad drug companies are free to pour all the money they what into EMBRYONIC stem cell research. Gard, Green, and Bush aren't standing in the way of that. If the promise is in EMBRYONIC stem cell research, no one is stopping private entities from dumping as much money as they want into that.

The question is whether government dollars should be INCREASED for research that requires the destruction of human life.

Naturally, the Dems want to lie about the reality of Gard's positions.

I find the Dems' long established and frequently employed practice of using such deceptions as scare tactics to win votes to be very troubling.

One example-- For decades, Dems have frightened seniors, saying that Republicans will take away their social security benefits. Obviously, that's utter nonsense. It's a lie.

Now, it's the stem cell issue. More scare tactics, more lies.

Why can't the Dems run on the truth?
