Impeachment Fever

Let there be no mistake about it. The Democratic Party is moving dramatically to the Left.

The loudest voices are those of the far Left extremists, the real nutjobs.

A liberal like Joe Lieberman isn't liberal enough for them anymore. He was thrown under the bus based on one issue, Iraq. Granted, that is a major issue. But for his party to completely abandon him, after years of being a loyal, usually lockstep Dem, reveals that dissension and the slightest hint of moderation is forbidden. The Left will not tolerate it.

The Lefties are drooling at the thought of taking back the House of Representatives, not because of getting the opportunity to have more power in serving the American people, but because they would have the power to impeach President Bush.

Some in the lib media have claimed that Republicans are playing the impeachment card and trumping up the threat just to fire up the base, to scare conservative voters into going to the polls.

The impeachment threat is no myth. It's not a Karl Rove creation or a sinister plan by the evil Dick Cheney.

It's real.

I want to believe that the Dems are more responsible and level-headed than that, but if I did, I would be kidding myself.

Impeachment is the top priority of the radical Left, and the radical Left now is the mainstream Democratic Party.

There are groups feverishly working to achieve the goal of a Bush-Cheney impeachment.

ImpeachPAC "is a Political Action Committee registered with the Federal Election Commission. Its purpose is to raise money to elect Democratic candidates for Congress who support the immediate and simultaneous impeachment of George Bush and Dick Cheney for their Iraq War lies."

Check out its 10-page
"Guide to the Impeachment of George W. Bush and Richard B. Cheney."

It's scary. You have to read it to believe it.

On
Michael Moore's website, he's promoting "Blog the Nation - September 1st to 3rd, U.S.A.:Impeach Him in the Streets!

In conjunction with ImpeachPAC and After Downing Street, freewaybloggers across the country will be celebrating their rights to free speech by putting up signs calling for the impeachment of George W. Bush. In order to participate all you need is cardboard, paint and something to say. Send pictures of your work to freewayblogger@yahoo.com

Moore also urges his followers with more information and a pep talk, You Can Impeach the President.

Impeach Bush is another group pushing the same agenda.

George Bush and Dick Cheney deliberately misled Congress and the American public about Iraq in order to justify an illegal war. Over 2500 American troops and tens of thousands of Iraqi civilians have died as a result. This and other "high crimes and misdemeanors" are grounds for impeachment.

We welcome Republicans, Democrats, Greens, Libertarians and others to join the growing number of Americans who feel that the sad day has dawned when we must impeach our President and Vice President.

Please support candidates for Congress that support impeachment.

ImpeachForPeace.org is another group organized to "Drive out the Bush Regime!"

It would be possible to shrug off these groups as simply the fringe lunatics of the Democratic Party if Party leaders distanced themselves from impeachment talk.

They don't. Numerous senators and representatives don't hesitate to use the I-word.

Speaking from the floor of the Senate in April 2006,
Senator Robert Byrd said:

"You better believe it, Mr. President. The Senate can send you home. You better believe that. If the House impeaches you, the Senate will try you. The Senate, don't forget it, serves as a court of impeachment."

And some members of Congress even held a mock impeachment hearing last summer.

In the Capitol basement yesterday, long-suffering House Democrats took a trip to the land of make-believe.

They pretended a small conference room was the Judiciary Committee hearing room, draping white linens over folding tables to make them look like witness tables and bringing in cardboard name tags and extra flags to make the whole thing look official.

Rep. John Conyers Jr. (D-Mich.) banged a large wooden gavel and got the other lawmakers to call him "Mr. Chairman." He liked that so much that he started calling himself "the chairman" and spouted other chairmanly phrases, such as "unanimous consent" and "without objection so ordered." The dress-up game looked realistic enough on C-SPAN, so two dozen more Democrats came downstairs to play along.

The session was a mock impeachment inquiry over the Iraq war. As luck would have it, all four of the witnesses agreed that President Bush lied to the nation and was guilty of high crimes -- and that a British memo on "fixed" intelligence that surfaced last month was the smoking gun equivalent to the Watergate tapes. Conyers was having so much fun that he ignored aides' entreaties to end the session.

How weird is that?

One has to question the mental stability of these Dems.

The bottom line:

These Dems are nuts.

They live in a parallel universe. They don't seem to understand that WE ARE AT WAR.

Islamofascists declared war on us. Retreating won't make our enemies go away. They are determined to destroy us, and they believe that they can because they perceive Americans as weak. Retreating, cutting and running, are the last things on the minds of the terrorists.

Meanwhile, as the Islamofascists work to destroy us, these idiot Dems and Left-wing kooks are bent on destroying President Bush.

That's their goal. That's their idea of winning the war.

I didn't realize that today, September 1, is a day of celebration or consciousness-raising or whatever in the Lefty Blogosphere. It's IMPEACHMENT DAY!

YIPPEE!!!

Read more about it
here and here.

Impeachnet is helping to organize the effort.

CALL TO ACTION

Starting at noon on September 1 2006, participating websites and blogs will replace their front pages with the single word “Impeach” in simple white text on a black background. (See this page for an example.) For 24 hours, web surfers and blog readers will see that word first when they visit their favorite sites. In this way, we hope to get the public talking about the one tool guaranteed by the Founders to restore our Constitutional Democracy.

See an example here.

Isn't that cute?

I did a every unscientific sampling of Lefty blogs. I found rather weak participation.

I don't take that to mean the bloggers aren't pro-impeachment. I just assume the September 1 IMPEACHMENT DAY project is a dud.
