Who's Your Daddy?

There's another chapter in the Michael (Jackson) McGee, Jr. saga.

From
The Milwaukee Journal Sentinel:

A paternity test proves Ald. Michael McGee fathered the child of his former mistress, the woman's attorneys said Thursday.

The results of the test by Laboratory Corp. of America, or LabCorp, were presented at a news conference by attorneys Michael Maxwell and Russell Jones, who are representing Kimley Rucker in her paternity case against McGee.

The attorneys are also asking Milwaukee County District Attorney E. Michael McCann to issue perjury charges against the alderman for his testimony last May at a hearing before Milwaukee County Circuit Judge Clare L. Fiorenza. At the hearing, McGee testified that he had sex with Rucker only one time, in August 2005.

Rucker's daughter was born July 8. Based on a typical gestation period, the presumed conception date for Rucker's baby is between Sept. 19 and Nov. 18, 2005, proving that McGee's testimony was false, the attorneys said in a letter to McCann.

In July, citing a lack of evidence, McCann's office decided not to pursue perjury charges against McGee for claiming under oath that he never had a "romantic" relationship with Rucker; never possessed an e-mail account his wife later identified as his; and never sent e-mails to Rucker.

What will McCann do now that there is this overwhelming evidence that McGee committed perjury?

Of course, a safe answer would be "nothing." That would be consistent with the way he operates.

I'm not surprised by the revelations that McGee fathered Rucker's baby or that McGee lied about their relationship.

He has shown that he is not trustworthy and that he is morally-challenged.

Is that really the sort of leader that the people in his aldermanic district want?

McGee is completely out of control. His life is a soap opera.

I think it's a mistake to dismiss this all as personal stuff that should be off limits in terms of public scrutiny.

Committing perjury REPEATEDLY is not a private matter. It's against the law.

Why should McGee be allowed to testify in a court proceeding and lie with impunity?

McCann can't claim that there's a lack of evidence now. There's no question that McGee lied. There's a baby, his baby, to prove it.

McGee needs to be held accountable for his untruthful testimony.

He needs to be held accountable for helping to raise his child.

He also needs to be held accountable for being such a disgrace in a community that is wanting in the male role model department.

Although following the trials and tribulations of McGee is sort of amusing, none of it should be taken lightly.

Cheating on his spouse, fathering a child with another woman, and habitually lying under oath is not a laughing matter.
