Hillary's Base Widens

It's a growing trend.

Hillary is getting bigger and bigger.

A new USA TODAY/Gallup Poll shows that Hillary is leaving Barack Obama and John Edwards to stand in her ample shadow.

The survey, taken Friday through Sunday, puts Clinton at 48% — up 8 percentage points from three weeks ago — and Obama at 26%, down 2 points. Among Democrats and independents who "lean" Democratic, former North Carolina senator John Edwards is at 12%.

View the poll results.

Once Hillary feels more secure, I suspect her attacks on Obama will lighten up.

Once Obama begins to feel that his chances of winning the nomination are looking more bleak, I expect him to start making amends with Hillary and begin to position himself to occupy the number two spot on the ticket.

And John Edwards' frustration will grow.

As his wife Elizabeth said, "We can't make John black, we can't make him a woman. Those things get you a lot of press, worth a certain amount of fundraising dollars.

She's wrong. They can make John a woman, but in the long run, I don't think that would help him much.

It's still early, but at this point, it looks like the nomination may be Hillary's to lose.

Isn't it sad that republicans are still waiting for a guy who hasn't declared if he is going to run or not!! ;) He seems to be more popular than other candidates!!

Well, at the end of the day, it's all politics - what's new?
