Markos Moulitsas and Charlie Rose

I have a touch of the masochist in me.

Sometimes, I watch Charlie Rose drool over a liberal guest.

His Monday show was nauseating.

Rose was positively giddy. He loved talking about the resignation of Karl Rove with a slew of guests.

After that, adding to Rose's perfect day, was a visit with Markos Moulitsas, founder and publisher of the radical far Left lib website
Daily Kos.

Moulitsas was wearing big boy, "take me seriously" clothes -- a blue shirt, yellow tie, and navy jacket.

Rose welcomed Moulitsas and gushed about what a wonderful day it was for him to be on the show, what with the announcement of Rove's exit.

In the relatively brief segment, Moulitsas managed to hit all the anti-Bush buttons.

He barely began speaking and I'm hearing that Bush was at fault for the inadequate levees in New Orleans that failed after Hurricane Katrina.

Did you know that Bill Clinton would never have let that happen? Moulitsas does. Rose seemed to agree.

The Daily Kos founder blabbed about the "neoconservative cabal in the Bush administration." It's led by Dick Cheney, of course. Everyone already knows that.

Moulitsas said that the administration seized the opportunity of 9/11 and terrorism and saw it as a great political tool.

He said Bush gets a "thrill" out of using fear and threats to divide the nation and disparage Democrats.

Naturally, Rose was lapping it all up.

It was almost nightmarish, putting myself in this creepy alternative universe.

One gem from Moulitsas:

"I think the country is realizing that Democratic values are mainstream American values."

Obviously, Moulitsas doesn't get out much. He lives in a lib bubble.
"Daily Kos is a community of progressive Democrats."

Much of what I've read reveals that it's a community of foul-mouthed, hate-filled people. I guess that must be what progressive Dems are.

Rose brought up the YearlyKos convention and the Democrat presidential candidates' appearances there.

Rose actually said that the candidates "were there to pay homage to you."

UNBELIEVABLE!

Rose asked if Daily Kos reflects the mainstream of the Democratic Party?

Moulitsas replied, "I think we're the mainstream of America."

If Daily Kos is the mainstream of America, the country is doomed.

Did you now that Moulitsas isn't a Democrat?

"I think I'm a Libertarian."

"I used to be a Republican."

What a load!

Moulitsas was thrown when Rose asked, "What philosopher most reflects your views?"

He stumbled around until he finally said, "I'm very much a Jeffersonian."

When discussing the significance of Daily Kos, Moulitsas said, "I represent the dismantling of gatekeepers."

It's true that Moulitsas is a major player in the New Media. And he's right about eliminating the need for information to pass through the filters of the Old Media.

That's the only thing that Moulitsas said that made any sense.

Not once, NOT ONCE did Rose bring up the ugliness and incivility found day in and day out on Daily Kos.

He didn't discuss how brutal the Internet postings of this "progressive community" can be.

Rose didn't mention what passes for intelligent commentary on the site.

Rose didn't question Moulitsas about his role in dividing the nation.

Rose didn't charge him with being a polarizing figure or dealing in character assassination and lies.

No. The Daily Kos and Moulitsas is all good.

Here's a nice post by Trapper John. It's about Tommy Thompson.

Elegy For A Fallen Candidate

O Tommy boy/
the polls, the polls are falling/
from Council Bluffs, and down to Waterloo/
the summer's gone, and your numbers are dying/
because you failed/
to raise money like a Jew/
And don't come back, your time has come and gone, son/
You're just a hack, who can't hold in his pee/
But you were good for laughs, at least, dear cheesehead/
O Tommy Boy, O Tommy Boy/
we'll miss you . . . see? So? I'm sorry, what was that last word? My hearing aid isn't working . . .

Too bad Rose didn't see fit to highlight the content of Daily Kos, instead of paying homage to Moulitsas.

Are we to believe that this trash really reflects the mainstream of America?

I hope not.
