David T. Currin Convicted

Remember the 3-year-old Milwaukee girl who shot a 6-year-old boy after she got her hands on a gun hidden behind the stove?

Read about it here and here and here.

The owner of the gun, the "man of the house," was convicted today.

From the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel:

A 32-year-old man who kept a gun behind his stove that a 3-year-old girl used to shoot a 6-year-old boy pleaded guilty today to illegally possessing a firearm as a felon.

David T. Currin, who was convicted in 2003 of possession of cocaine with intent to deliver, faces up to 10 years in prison and a $25,000 fine at his Nov. 20 sentencing by Circuit Judge Jeffrey A. Kremers. His loaded .32 caliber pistol had been found behind the stove by a 6-year-old, who then handed to the 3-year-old who pulled the trigger.

So Currin is on his way to prison. It's not the gun's fault. It's Currin's fault.

I predict, however long his sentence is, when he gets out he will not be a changed man.

He'll be back.
