Ron Paul and Jay Leno

The Tonight Show had an eclectic lineup of guests on Tuesday -- Tom Cruise, Ron Paul, and the Sex Pistols.

Tom Cruise is not a great talk show guest. He always seems uncomfortable to me.

With Ron Paul, it's a different story. I'm uncomfortable with him.

When he was introduced, the audience cheered. The band of Paul supporters were out in force.

Leno began the interview talking about Paul's past jobs.

As a doctor, he delivered 4000 babies.

Paul said he spent five years in the Air Force as a flight surgeon.

Leno said he was in two noble professions. He asked how Paul got in the "sleazy one."

Paul babbled about being fascinated by economics and that led to his political career.

Paul said he's always been a Republican. He just took "a break" for a year when he ran for president as a libertarian.

Explaining his popularity in spite of being way out of the top tier of candidates, Paul said, "My views are very popular."

"Young people love it."

On the subject of taxes, Paul said he wants a flat tax.

"I wanna make it real flat, like zero."

On Iraq, Paul said he wants to get out now and bring the troops home.

"I mean it was a mistake to go in. We shouldn't have gone in. We didn't go in properly."

"Our national defense is in shambles."

"Our troops are disenchanted. The troops are complaining."

"I actually think we're more vulnerable for another attack under the conditions today than we were even before 9/11."

With the War on Terrorism, "our greatest threat is the threat to our civil liberties here at home."

He doesn't sound like a Republican on that issue, not even remotely.

Paul talked about his supporters and the Internet's impact on his campaign.

He said, "The message is powerful."

Paul said, "I have shortcomings, but the message has no shortcomings."

Speaking of his chances for success in the '08 election, he added, "I would say, yes, there's probably a risk I could win."

The audience, packed with the Ron Paul groupies, went nuts.

Leno asked if he'd accept the VP spot.

He said to laughs from the audience that he probably wouldn't be offered.

No kidding. That's one of the most intelligent things I've heard Paul say.

On the subject of the VP spot on the ticket, he said, "It would be real hard for me to accept a vice presidency in an adminstration that endorsed everything I didn't believe in. I wouldn't be able to that."

Question: What is Paul doing running as a Republican?

Leno said he was impressed with the 72-year-old Paul and how he relates to young people.

Leno was a gracious host. He treated him with respect, which was nice.

It would have been nicer if Leno had asked Paul some tougher questions, challenging him on some of his loonier positions; but this is an entertainment show, not Meet the Press. I won't fault Leno for being kind to a senior citizen.

Speaking of senior citizens, the Sex Pistols were awful. "Anarchy in the UK" doesn't have the same edge when it's performed by such old guys. Their music doesn't work as a nostalgia act. It was sad.

Some legends lose their luster when they try to comeback.

"It's better to burn out than to fade away."

I guess the Sex Pistols have opted for fade away. Too bad.

Ron Paul makes you "uncomfortable"?
Hmmm...Guess the truth does make some people squirm....
Seeing American boys brought home in coffins makes me "uncomfortable"
The American economy makes me "uncomfortable"
The Patriot Act makes me "uncomfortable"
But then we do all have our priorities don't we???

Ron Paul is a certifiable "NUT"!
"better than a burn out than to fade away" - Def Leppard (They are still awesome in concert :D)

People who say "Ron Paul is a nut" obviously don't do any research. He is the only candidate who will end the war pronto. He will also end the income tax. If you don't want to keep your paycheck you're a nut. There was no income tax prior to 1913 when the central bankers took this country over. All of the money from the income tax goes towards the interest that the federal reserve charges us for the national debt. All of the other candidates are members of the council on Foreign Relations. If you don't know these things you should probably keep your uneducated opinion to your self.

Ron Paul is absolutely clueless when it comes to foreign policy.

He has said things that have been inexcusable -- 9/11 conspiracy theories, his degradation of Marines.

The stuff Paul says about civil liberties being eroded sounds like it came straight off of a loony Left website.

You said: "you should probably keep your uneducated opinion to your self."

Are YOU in the business of eroding civil liberties?

I've noticed that in comments left by Paul supporters. They're quick to try to shut people up.

Funny.

Come on Mary. Everybody knows 911 was an inside job. Building 7 fell perfectly in it's footprint and it wasn't even hit by a plane. Then they don't even mention that building on tv for 6 years like it doesn't exist. Do a google search. Just type in WTC 7.

You're right though, I should let people, even if they don't know what they're talking about, state their opinion. It's just a little frustrating that nobody does any research anymore. They just get their information from the corrupt media. these people including you don't even know your civil liberties are being eroded. WAKE UP SHEOPLE OR SOON IT WILL BE TO LATE!!

Ron Paul is a nutcase.

He is the only candidate who will end the war pronto.

That's certifiable wishful thinking. Logistics aside and the tide of positive momentum aside, no serious candidate will be able to "bring the troops home immediately". It is pandering to the anti-war crowd to claim doing so. Furthermore, troop draw-down is already in the plans, and will happen next year.

As for your 2nd comment regarding building 7 etc, your candidate doesn't even support you, on that bit of fantasy. Although he indulges nuts like you, he hasn't completely abandoned his hold on reality.

As always, well said, WS.

Come at me with facts. Not dis info. Here are some facts.

The income tax was only 2% after world war 2.

In 1955 it was only 5%

Now it's 33%
People say Ron Paul can't end the IRS because the country won't be able to run without our money. This is not true. All of the money from the income tax is used up entirely and immediately to pay the interest of the national debt. That's just the interest and, the interest is payed to the people who own the federal reserve.

So this means a private corporation (Federal Reserve) creates money out of thin air and then charges the American people so much interest that it gobbles all of the tax money.

Additionally I know some of you are the payed government propagandist that are payed to type disinfo on the web.

Ron Paul Raised 4.2 million in one day yesterday breaking all records for this election. What do you have to say about that?

Anonymous said...

Additionally if you know what building seven is and don't support the 911 truth movement you're the nut, or better yet one of the 30+thousand payed government propagandist whop type dis info on the net.

Hmmm. I wonder how someone could know so much about Ron Paul but, not support him. Then you mention building seven yet you don't think 911 was carried out by the owners of this country. Research Building Seven sheople and vote Ron Paul.

FEDERAL RESERVE = PRIVATE CORPORATION DEVALUING OUR CURRENCY.

IRS= PRIVATE CORPORATION TAKING 1/3 OF OUR INCOME.

911=INSIDE JOB.

IF YOU OVER LOOK WHAT I SAY PEOPLE THAT MEANS YOU DID NO RESEARCH.

DO NOT BELIEVE THE MEDIA. THEY ARE OWNED BY THE SAME PEOPLE WHO OWN THE FED AND THE IRS

DAVID ROCKEFELLER IS ONE OF THEM

Scary.

To "anonymous, 3:00 PM, November 06, 2007" --

I'm not overlooking what you say because I did no research. I'm overlooking what you say to be polite. I see no need to embarrass you any further than you've managed to do to yourself.

Do you know these things Mary. Are you happy about them. Are you one of the sheople, or one of the government workers? Any facts to contribute?

Mary said...

What "things" are you talking about?

You know you're not doing Paul any favors.

"Sheople." I find that term to be particularly offensive.

ONLY A SHEOPLE WOULD BE OFFENDED

Sheesh...is Rononymous still here?

Ron Paul Raised 4.2 million in one day yesterday breaking all records for this election. What do you have to say about that?

What do you say about Stormfront being behind the Guy Fawkes video promotions? Isn't it great how Ron Paul is being linked to "V for Vendetta"?

And I repeat again, Ron Paul does not support your Building 7 theory. Don't fool yourself. But he certainly has indulged you, along with the neo-Nazis.

The WordSmith from Nantucket said...

So keep throwing your money down the drain, pal. You fools have future days like Nov 5th in the works, don't you? Lmao!

Mary said...

I don't know how Paul can brag about his wonderful supporters.

He should be doing everything he can to distance himself from his wacko base.

I'm sure Paul has some supporters who are reasonable people. I just haven't encountered any yet.

Ron Paul is the only candidate who can save us from the corrupt government and from the ignorant sheople such as your selves. Notice how you two don't want to discuss the private fed, and IRS. Do you understand what this means?

These are private corporations controlling our country. Most Ron Paul supporters know this. People like yourselves don't understand.

I can tell you're both some of the 30,000 people payed by the government to type disinfo. Mainly because you have no facts. I wonder why someone would care so much to talk bad about Paul. Hmmmm.

That's like somebody who doesn't like pizza going to pizza hut to say don't eat pizza, eat tacos.

Anonymous said...

All candidates except Ron Paul are members of the Council on Foreign relations. Google it people.

Try to understand what this means for
you and your children.

HAHAHA

That's right.

I get paid in cash, small bills.

No facts or responses to any of my facts as usual.

The WordSmith from Nantucket said...

What facts, rononymous? You mean conjectures, perceptions, opinions?

You're a conspiracy nut, paranoid about the government and a secret cabal working behind the scenes (which apparently includes Mary and myself on the government payroll).

Next you'll be talking about the North American Union, the Trilateral Commission, Freemasonry, Skull & Bones, and the military industrial complex.

Why address someone steeped in delusions and brainmessiness?
