ANDERSON, Ind. -- An Anderson woman was arrested this week on suspicion of letting her 11-year-old daughter drink alcohol and smoke marijuana on the child's birthday, police said.
Davita N. Fuller, 26, was arrested Wednesday on a felony charge of contributing to the delinquency of a minor.
The girl alleged Fuller gave her the alcohol and marijuana and offered it to three of her 11-year-old friends during the child's birthday party at Fuller's home Feb. 1, police said.
ELEVEN! The girl is celebrating her 11th birthday with her 11-year-old friends.
Allegedly, Fuller gave the children alcohol and pot. Did Davis serve anything else, like pizza? I hope there was at least a birthday cake and ice cream.
The girl claimed she took one drink of alcohol and puffed on the marijuana once, and that her friends declined her mother's offer, police said.
The three friends corroborated the girl's story, Anderson police Detective Joel Sandefur told 6News' Cheryl Jackson Thursday.
Good for the friends for refusing Fuller's alleged offer!
And good for the daughter for having the courage to talk to officials!
Fuller told investigators that she was smoking marijuana and drinking beer with her adult friends at the child's party, but she denied giving those things to her daughter, police said.
"Fuller claims she gave her daughter a certain look that has been interpreted in past incidents that she (victim) is to leave the room when adults are smoking marijuana," Anderson police said in a news release.
Did you get that?
Fuller admits that she was smoking pot and drinking beer with her adult friends AT THE CHILD'S PARTY.
Adults do consume alcohol in front of kids. I question whether it was a good idea for Fuller to have a group of adults around drinking beer while she was hosting a children's party, but it's certainly not illegal.
The marijuana, however, is a different story. There's no question that Fuller's behavior on that count was out of line.
Fuller damns herself when she says that she gave her daughter that "certain look that has been interpreted in past incidents that she is to leave the room when adults are smoking marijuana."
In other words, it's not unusual for Fuller to smoke pot when her daughter is around. It's common enough that her daughter should know that she should leave the room when adults are at play.
Good grief.
Even if she didn't offer the substances to her daughter or the other children, Fuller is not a good role model. She's not a good mother. By her own words, she reveals that she's not a good mother.
What's troubling to me is that I don't find this all that shocking. It's the same old, same old.
Notice that Fuller is 26. Her daughter just turned 11.
Do you think that age difference between mother and daughter is a factor? I do.
Bottom line: There's a segment of American society that is completely and utterly twisted. Children are having children. Children are being raised by people unfit to raise children.
So what else is new?
