Barack Obama and Al Gore

Another reason to NOT vote for Barack Obama--

WALLINGFORD, Pa. -- Democrat Barack Obama says as president he would consider putting Al Gore in a Cabinet-level position — or higher.

A woman at a town hall asked the Illinois senator if elected president would he consider tapping the former vice president for his Cabinet, or an even higher level office, to address global warming.

"I would," Obama said. "Not only will I, but I will make a commitment that Al Gore will be at the table and play a central part in us figuring out how we solve this problem. He's somebody I talk to on a regular basis. I'm already consulting with him in terms of these issues but climate change is real."

That's scary.

I don't want Al Gore at any table crippling the economy with silly, ineffective regulations. I don't want him telling me what to do. Government does not belong in my light sockets.

THEY WILL HAVE TO PRY MY INCANDESCENT LIGHT BULBS FROM MY COLD DEAD HANDS.

I'm a conservative who believes the following:

1) Global Warming is real
2) Man is not the sole cause or even a major contributor
3) We should be stewards of our environment
4) That stewardship should not be mandated by regulation

Eventually, it will become economically smart to be green - using compact fluorescent bulbs instead of incandescent bulbs actually saves you money. Using alternative forms of energy (such as solar and wind) can be an economic advantage in the right area.

That being said, the goverment should not be mandating this, but I believe the citizens of this country (and the world) should voluntarily take steps to reduce their impact on the environment. After all, we're going to have to live on this earth for a long, long time - and the earth is not getting less crowded! :)

I, too, believe that we should be stewards of the earth.

I don't just talk the talk. I live it. I'm not an environmental hypocrite, like so many politicians and celebrities.

I don't excessively consume and then try to ease my guilt by doing something as lame as purchasing carbon offsets.

If Gore really cares about the planet, then he should alter his gluttonous lifestyle.
