Milwaukee doesn't seem to be a very safe place to drive a bus, even a bus filled with school children.
Just last week, a Milwaukee County bus driver was brutally attacked by a 17-year-old. Passengers were on the bus at the time.
There's been another assault on a driver. This time, a school bus driver was attacked while students were on the bus.
From TMJ4:
Was this retaliation or a random act? Police won't say for sure but they are looking into the possibility that relatives of a little girl who was beaten up on the bus this week, didn't like the way the bus driver handled the situation.
The bus driver doesn't know why he was the target of the attack. He was dropping off some MPS kids when three people jumped on and started beating him.
"The whole side of my face here is swollen," according to the bus driver named Ben.
Ben doesn't want us to use his last name. He was driving kids home from school when the attack happened.
"I thought they were looking for somebody else said Ben. "I asked them and they just hit me and the other two rushed me and hit me."
...The school bus driver says there wasn't much he could do. He was wearing his seat belt, three small children were in the back of the bus and he kept wondering why? Why are these people beating me up?
"They were saying something like, 'Why you let this happen?' or something said Ben. "I was trying to figure what they were talking about."
...Police have two teens in custody. They are looking for a third suspect and a motive.
If a little girl was beaten up on the bus and her relatives weren't happy with how the situation was handled, then they should have dealt with it in an appropriate manner, like complaining to the school and the bus company.
Sending three thugs to beat up the bus driver certainly isn't an effective way to deal with the problem.
It's reactions like this that make me fear for the long-term future of Milwaukee.
