Fr. Michael Pfleger Apologizes on Sunday

At Mass on Sunday at St. Sabina Catholic Church on the south side of Chicago, Fr. Michael Pfleger was embraced by his parishioners.

Apparently, they are willing to buy his apology or else they buy his original remarks about Hillary Clinton.

Pfleger said yesterday, "I apologize for anyone who was offended and who thought it to be mockery. That was neither my intent nor was it my heart."

What? That's ridiculous. Of course, it was mockery. Of course, it was.

It's crazy for Pfleger to say that the portion of his sermon that was posted on the Internet was taken entirely out of context. That's impossible. It's Jeremiah Wright all over again.

Calling Bill Moyers...

Fr. Pfleger needs you to step in and redeem him.

I don't think the big problem for Obama is either of these guys but the reaction from the audience. Obama can no more disown his church or these two guys as he can disown his base of support.

Obama enjoys a wide base of support. It includes more than the followers of Jeremiah Wright and the defenders of Pfleger.

That said, it is disturbing to hear the congregations respond favorably to the remarks of Wright and Pfleger.
