Lawlessness and Disorder on Milwaukee's South Side

From the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel:

Police arrested two persons, including a 14-year-old who had a shotgun, while serving a gang related search warrant at S. l3th St. and Windlake Ave. Tuesday, Milwaukee police said today.

Two pit bulls who charged at police were killed, said police spokesperson Anne Schwartz. A number of people in the neighborhood became upset and began threatening the officers who then called for backup, she said.

A police sergeant on a motorcycle who was responding to the scene with lights and sirens was injured at S. 6th St. and W. Walker St. when a vehicle pulled out toward him from a side street, she said. The sergeant laid down his motorcycle to avoid a collision. He suffered "a number of broken bones," she said. He was later released from the hospital.

People in the neighborhood should be upset that a 14-year-old is brandishing a shotgun.

They should be upset that there are vicious dogs in the neighborhood.

The police were there to enforce the law and maintain order, to protect people from crime and violence.

When people in the city see police as the enemy, what hope is there for a safe Milwaukee?
