Milwaukee Southeast Side Neighborhood Hit Hard

Last night's storms took a particularly hard toll in a neighborhood on Milwaukee's southeast side.

From the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel:

Police in District 2 on Milwaukee's southeast side say they received at least 12 separate calls reporting extensive damage from a storm that struck the area just after 10 p.m.

Most of the damage was in a small geographic area, bounded by Mitchell International Airport on the south, S. Howell Ave. on the west, E. Bradley Ave. on the north and S. Clement Ave. on the east, police said.

The damage involved downed trees, many of which put live power lines on the ground. There was at least one report of a tree falling on a house.

Scenes like this can be found in neighborhoods over so much of the state, so much damage. Thankfully, no one was hurt here.

One of those huge trees could have crashed through a home.

Even while coping with the destruction, we should be thankful for small mercies and count our blessings.
