The Golf Course Bandit

Golfing in Brown Deer is getting to be too dangerous.

Last Saturday at around 11:00 AM, four golfers and two caddies were robbed at gunpoint at Brynwood Country Club.

Yesterday, a group of golfers and caddies were robbed at gunpoint at the Tripoli Country Club.

From the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel:

In the second such robbery in a week, four golfers and three caddies were robbed at gunpoint Friday at Tripoli Country Club.

The group was robbed about 8:45 a.m. on the third hole at the club, 7401 N. 43rd St., when the robber showed a handgun and ordered them to place their valuables on the green.

The robber took an unknown amount of cash, a cell phone and a Bushnell rangefinder used to judge distances, said Tripoli general manager Gavin Inglis.

Inglis said the group finished its 18-hole round after giving statements to Brown Deer police.

...The robber was described as a light-skinned black male, 5-feet-6-inches to 5-feet-8-inches tall and weighing 140 to 150 pounds, in his late teens or early 20s and with short hair. He was wearing khaki pants and a white, long-sleeved T-shirt with a white bandanna over his nose and mouth.

A man matching that description was seen about 1 p.m. Friday driving a brown Ford Explorer at the Milwaukee Country Club, 8000 N. Rangeline Road, River Hills.

If this armed robber wasn't the same man responsible for the Brynwood crime, then he's either a copycat or a member of a band of bandits targeting golfers.

The golfers are probably seen as easy prey. A golf club is no match for a gun. Plus, there aren't witnesses around in isolated areas of a golf course.

If Wisconsin had a concealed carry law, I wonder if this would be happening.
