Jay Leno, John Edwards, and Scandal

The John Edwards scandal may be off limits when it comes to the lib media, but Jay Leno isn't giving Edwards a pass.

On Monday's show, at least three times he referenced Edwards and his alleged relationship with a woman other than his wife, only Leno didn't say "alleged."

One joke was based on Denver's Mayor John Hickenlooper's vow to prevent a protest group from sleeping overnight in City Park during the Democratic National Convention.

Mayor John Hickenlooper told radio host Mike Rosen, who writes a column for the Rocky, that Tent State University's plans for a sleepover for as many as 50,000 protesters are out of the question.

The mayor also told Rosen that the city might turn on the sprinklers if the protesters don't abide by Denver's 11 p.m. curfew.

Leno botched the joke when he said that the mayor might even turn a hose on McCain and his girlfriend if they show up to sleep in the park.

That was a major mistake to say the least.

Leno literally started over and retold the joke with the proper punchline -- Edwards and his girlfriend.

Leno said something to the effect that it really didn't matter that he screwed up because the audience doesn't know what's going on anyway. They wouldn't know the difference.

Another reference to John Edwards came during the intro to the "Headlines" segment, when the joke headline on the bundle of newspapers read:

John Edwards asks Kobe Bryant, 'What's a good jewelry store?'

Although the lib media are staying silent on the Edwards scandal, Leno isn't hesitating to address it.

That's significant since many people get their news from late night comedians rather than from actual news outlets.

The lib media's blackout on the Edwards story really is incredible.

If Mitt Romney had been spotted trying to leave a hotel after 2:00 AM and trying to avoid the press by hiding in a hotel bathroom for 15 minutes, I guarantee you there wouldn't be silence coming from the media.

And there certainly wouldn't be silence from the late night comedians.
