According to radical Leftists, liberals, and other Bush-haters, when President Bush makes private comments that are picked up by a hot mic, that supposedly provides fascinating insight into the real man.
The lib media play the "private" words in an endless loop. Bush is belittled for being too dumb to know that his remarks were actually quite public. It's all a joke or an outrage, depending on what's politically most expedient for the Left.
Today, when it was revealed that Jesse Jackson made disparaging remarks about Barack Obama that were picked up by a hot mic, the reaction has been very different.
Suddenly, it's about privacy.
Drudge reports:
SHOCK: REV. JESSE JACKSON SLAMS OBAMA, WANTS TO 'CUT HIS N**S OUT'... APOLOGIZES FOR 'CRUDE AND HURTFUL COMMENTS' CAUGHT ON TAPE...
FOX will air the tape tonight on The O'Reilly Factor.
CHICAGO -- The Rev. Jesse Jackson apologized Wednesday for comments he made about Barack Obama's speeches in black churches during what he thought was a private conversation with a reporter.
Jackson told CNN's Wolf Blitzer on Wednesday that his comments made Sunday were in response to a question from a Fox News reporter about speeches on morality the Democratic presidential candidate has given at black churches.
...He was being interviewed about health care by a Fox News reporter on Sunday when he was asked his opinion about Obama speaking in black churches. Jackson said Wednesday he was not aware that his microphone was still on.
Jackson told The Associated Press he doesn't remember exactly what he said Sunday but that he was "very sorry" for his comments about Obama. He called his comments "a side light in a broader conversation about urban disparities."
"My appeal was for the moral content of his message to not only deal with the personal and moral responsibility of black males, but to deal with the collective moral responsibility of government and the public policy which would be a corrective action for the lack of good choices that often led to their irresponsibility," Jackson said in a written statement.
I don't think it's wrong to play the tape.
Jackson knew he was wearing a microphone. It's not like the make-up room at FOX was bugged.
Jackson made a violent, vulgar statement.
I'm not surprised at that.
Furthermore, it doesn't surprise me that Jackson said what he did about Obama. I'm sure there are plenty of people who share his sentiments.

O'REILLY: 'We held back some of this conversation... we didn't feel it had any relevance to the conversation this evening. We are not out to get Jesse Jackson. We are not out to embarrass him and we are not out to make him look bad. If we were, we would have used what we had, which is more damaging than what you have heard'...
That statement is quite damaging in itself.

Fox is hardly a liberal news channel. I bet they'll be playing it tonight.
Who said FOX is a liberal news channel?
It's a fair and balanced channel.
And of course FOX played it.
