Delmarie Cobb Called an 'Uncle Tom'

Is this the way to achieve party unity?

DENVER (AP) -- A black delegate for Hillary Rodham Clinton says she was called an "Uncle Tom" by Illinois Senate President Emil Jones, one of Barack Obama's political mentors.

Chicago political consultant Delmarie Cobb says Jones made the remarks Saturday night while discussing her support for Clinton. She called the remark "fighting words" and unacceptable.

Jones, who also is black, said Monday that he never uttered the slur. He says he referred to Cobb and other Clinton supporters as "doubting Thomases."

Cobb says that explanation doesn't make sense because she confronted Jones at the time and he didn't indicate she'd misunderstood.

Democrats really need to get their act together on this.

They need to find a better strategy than using slurs and strong-arm tactics to unify the party.

Hillary is backing Obama.

I think she knows that she has to preach unity if she wants a political future.

Hillary isn't going to be overtly divisive. That wouldn't be in her self-interest. I wouldn't expect her to say anything other than what she's saying.

However, she knows that her supporters are loyal. She knows about PUMA.

Hillary knows what she's doing.

Delmarie is not an Uncle Tom. For women, the term is Aunt Jemimah. That IS what she is

It didn't take long for the news about Biden's brother and son's hedge fund problem. The War Room is fired up and getting loaded. Hillary will say all the right things but she will protect her and Bill's position in the Democratic Party.

I agree. Hillary is looking beyond 2008.
