Gwen Moore, John McCain, and Condoms

Armed with a stack of condoms from Planned Parenthood, Democrat Congresswoman from Wisconsin Gwen Moore was spotted whooping it up at the Democratic National Convention with her fellow delegates.

From the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel:

While Republican John McCain is sending overtures to pro-Hillary Rodham Clinton women who haven't gotten over her defeat for the Democratic nomination, Lt. Gov. Barb Lawton on Tuesday accused McCain of exhibiting a "fundamental disrespect toward women" in his campaign.

...Lawton, who supported Clinton for the nomination, was joined at the news conference by U.S. Rep. Gwen Moore of Milwaukee, an early Obama supporter. They said they were trying to steer the conversation back to the issues amid what they suggested was an overblown media preoccupation with lingering discontent among Clinton supporters.

"The 24-hour news cycle, media cycle, has really helped the Republicans change the subject, from all of these issues that have tremendous impact on 95% of Americans," Moore said. "For Republicans to come out and declare that Hillary should have been made the VP - we know they can't stand Hillary Clinton. They don't have the respect for her that we in the Democratic Party have."

With a rousing speech earlier in the day to Wisconsin delegates, Moore called on everyone to get firmly on board with Obama's campaign because "the prize is November 4."

Said Moore: "This is not about Barack Obama. This is about the 47 million Americans who don't have health care. . . . It's about affording college. . . . It's about workers having security."

Moore declared that if McCain is elected, "no one is going to suffer more than women."

Drawing hoots from the crowd, she pulled out a stack of condoms and said: "I had my friends from Planned Parenthood give me a bunch of condoms because I feel I need to protect myself from John McCain as a woman."

Holding up each one, she recited a litany of McCain votes that she said were anti-women, from equal-pay measures to abortion-related votes.

Gwen, Gwen, Gwen.

What a use of prophylactic props!

Gwen knows how to get by with a little help from her friends at Planned Parenthood.

"I had my friends from Planned Parenthood give me a bunch of condoms because I feel I need to protect myself from John McCain as a woman."

Good grief.

Moore's behavior and remarks are offensive on so many counts.

To assert that she needs condoms to protect herself from John McCain is so, SO low class.

Why didn't she just say that McCain plans to screw women?

Perhaps she did.

The JS reports that the Wisconsin Dem delegation, the crowd of hooters, ate up her performance.

If Moore is truly concerned about protecting women, perhaps she should think about Obama's approval of withholding medical care from those newborn female survivors of botched abortions.

Speaking of condoms, check out Dana Milbank in pig ears and snout and the Trojan condoms tent at the Pepsi Center.
Denver 2008. The Democratic National Convention. A place where the next president of the United States may be nominated. A place where decisions affecting the future of our nation will be made. A place where prophylactics are applied to produce.

As they approach the Pepsi Center, delegates coming to the first day of the convention were surprised to see right outside the security checkpoint people handing out Trojan condoms.

...inviting them to don pig ears and masks, and race against the clock, in an attempt to put a condom on a banana.

...The world record for the course: 11 seconds.

Milbank's time: 29 seconds.

Gwen Moore doesn't need protection from anyone. Rather, many of us need protection from Gwen Moore!

Earplugs is a good start.

Gwen Moore was very vocal in her desire to impeach President Bush.

She's an extremist.
