From Silent E Speaks, via the Denver Post:
This morning, Republicans tell me that a worker at Invesco Field in Denver saved thousands of unused flags from the Democratic National Convention that were headed for the garbage. Guerrilla campaigning. They will use these flags at their own event today in Colorado Springs with John McCain and Sarah Palin.
Before McCain speaks today, veterans will haul these garbage bags filled with flags out onto the stage — with dramatic effect, no doubt — and tell the story.
“What you see in the picture I sent you is less than half of total flags,” a Republican official emailed. “We estimate the total number to be around 12,000 small flags and one full size 3×5 flag.”
I’m not sure what the DNC was supposed to do with unused hand-flags, frankly. But the Republicans are obviously questioning someone’s patriotism here.
Not sure what the DNC was supposed to do with unused hand-flags?
NOT SURE?
How about use them at other rallies?
How about ship them to the state offices?
How about distribute the flags to school children?
There are lots of options.
I'd be glad to take some.
Throwing the flags away isn't very "green" of the Dems.
The Democrats appear to be clueless when it comes to the American flag.
American flags aren't just thrown in the trash, alongside rotting food and grease-soaked pizza boxes.
Don't they know that American flags should be disposed of properly?
Flag Disposal
Suggested Procedures for Disposing of a Faded, Worn Flag
1. The flag should be folded in its customary manner.
2. It is important that the fire be fairly large and of sufficient intensity to ensure complete burning of the flag.
3. Place the flag on the fire.
4. The individual(s) can come to attention, salute the flag, recite the Pledge of Allegiance and have a brief period of silent reflection.
5. After the flag is completely consumed, the fire should then be safely extinguished and the ashes buried.
6. Please make sure you are conforming to local/state fire codes or ordinances.
The above, of course, is the procedure for disposing of worn flags.
Who would want to throw away flags in perfectly good condition?
The Democrats need a remedial course on American Flag etiquette and disposal, including Barack Obama.

Our American Legion has a box where used flags can be deposited for proper disposal.
Dispose of a flag properly or have someone else that knows how to do, do it.
Same here.
People should contact Veterans' service organizations like the American Legion, the VFW, the Marine Corps League, or the D.A.V. about having their flags disposed of properly.
