Barack Obama began his remarks at the Resch Center in Green Bay by talking football. He offered his sympathy on the Packers' loss last night to the Cowboys, but he did note that the Bears are 1-2 while the Packers are 2-1.
He recycled the joke he's used so many times before in Wisconsin: Never before has a Bears fan been cheered by so many Cheeseheads.
In talking about the economy, Obama asked:
"Who's been running the government for the last 8 years?"
"How can they suggest they weren't in charge?"
Question for Obama: Who's in charge of the legislative branch of the U.S government?
That would be the Democrats, Obama's party. Obama is a U.S. senator, right?
Obama should read Kevin Hassett's article, "How the Democrats Created the Financial Crisis."
Obama charged that John McCain has been sounding like "Fighting Bob LaFollette."
I think that reference was lost on the vast majority of the crowd. Plus, Obama had a little trouble pronouncing "LaFollette."
Obama said, "Freddie Mae and Fan..." He caught his mistake. You'd think the names would roll right off his tongue, given Obama has received more money from Fannie and Freddie than all other U.S. senators, except Chris Dodd.
Obama said he's the only candidate in this race that can say lobbyists don't fund his campaign.
THAT'S NOT TRUE.
Obama IS in the pocket of lobbyists.
Lobbyists ARE funding his campaign, through bundlers.
$63,300,000 for Obama.
Obama talked about the reforms he plans to enact.
It's all talk.
Read "Obama sidesteps reform in Illinois."
Let's have some straight talk instead of his tired, empty "change" rhetoric.
Obama made a number of fumbles during his address.
He confused a "month" and a "year."
I think he may have had some problems with his teleprompter.
He looked like he had a headache.
It was a long speech, much longer than the whopping 14 minutes he gave to Milwaukeeans during his Labor Day stop in the city. Of course, back then Obama still held a commanding lead in Wisconsin.
Obama went through three sets of reforms, six points on the third set of reforms.
"Number one..."
"Number two..."
"Number three..."
I think the crowd was nodding off as he talked about his 21st century regulatory system.
Obama said electing McCain and Palin wouldn't mean sending a team of mavericks to Washington. It wouldn't be reform. It would be the same Bush policies. Right.
Obama said, "I feel good about our chances" in November.
"I've got something more powerful than they do. I've got you. The people."
Obama does have people, but McCain-Palin also have some people.
He slipped up on his big line.
"Change doesn't come from Washington... to Washington..." Huh?

I wish Obama talked about Palin's plan of charging victims for rape kits. Thats one way to solve budget issues. How can anyone support that idea?
Man, we as Republicans, have to get off our bandwagon and getting mad about all these little issues and start look at things that really effect our lives.
Ok, I am a McCain supporter, but you are clearly ill informed and ignorant of Facts. You talk about Obama taking PAC money, but the same link shows McCain collecting money from the same groups and people. Get it right or stop writing.
McCain supporter, you miss the point.
Obama is claiming that lobbyists will not fund his campaign.
He charges McCain with being in the pocket of lobbyists.
According to the Center for Responsive Politics, Obama is deceiving the people when he says he hasn't taken money from lobbyists. He does.
Via bundlers, both candidates are getting money from lobbyists.
Those are the facts.
I'd say "Get it right or stop commenting" but I think that would be unnecessarily harsh.
Obama's lying. I heard his pathetic ad on WISN all day today.
Keep the truth coming, Mary!
I find it hard to believe that "anonymous, 5:56 PM, September 22, 2008" supports McCain.
The hostility gives "anonymous" away as a poser.
Obama has to stop lying about his donors.
I just checked the Federal Election Commission's website, and according to the data at
http://www.fec.gov/DisclosureSearch/mapApp.do?cand_id=P80003338&searchType=&searchSQLType=&searchKeyword=
Obama has raised $426,000,000 from individuals, with more than half from donations of $200 or less. He has received -$650.00 from PACs. McCain, on the other hand, has only raised $184,000,000 from individuals and $1.2M from PACs.
How are you equating Bundler and Lobbyist? If I collect donations from 10 friends and send them in to the campaign together, I'm a bundler. That hardly makes me a lobbyist, that would make me a determined volunteer. Also, you failed to mention that McCain got $75M from bundlers.
Look at the chart.
Also, do some research on the bundlers.
