Last July, Keith Walendowski was so angry when his Lawn-Boy lawn mower wouldn't start that he shot it.
He was charged with a "felony count of possessing a short-barreled shotgun and a misdemeanor count of disorderly conduct while armed."
On Tuesday, Walendowski pleaded guilty.
From the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel:
Keith Walendowski, arguably one of the city's worst small-engine mechanics, pleaded guilty today to shooting his lawn mower with a sawed-off shotgun.
...Walendowski, 57, wearing a gray short-sleeved Milwaukee Polish Fest T-shirt, told Milwaukee County Circuit Judge Kevin Martens today that he was drunk when shot his 21-inch Lawn Boy.
Walendowski, convicted of possessing a short-barreled shotgun and disorderly conduct, faces up to six years and nine months in prison when he is sentenced Dec. 16.
Crocker Stephenson wrote this report.
I find it odd that Stephenson would describe Walendowski's t-shirt in such detail.
What's the point?
Why mention his t-shirt? Why make any connection at all with Walendowski's actions and Polish Fest?
Would Stephenson have noted that someone was wearing a Summerfest t-shirt or a State Fair t-shirt?
What is Stephenson trying to say?
I think it was a very cheap shot.
