Another Infant Murdered in Milwaukee?

Details of a murder are always disturbing, but when the murder victim is a 6-month-old infant, the crime is especially ghastly.

A 6-month-old is a completely helpless, innocent person.

From the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel:

A 6-month-old boy whose father was arrested in connection with the baby's injuries died Sunday at Children's Hospital of Wisconsin, Milwaukee police said.

The baby was injured in an incident at the family's home in the 2900 block of S. 12th St., Lt. Raynard Richards said. Family members took the baby to St. Francis hospital about mid-day Saturday, Richards said. The baby was later transferred to Children's Hospital.

Police were called by Children's Hospital staff members, and an investigation indicated the injuries were "not consistent with an accident," Richards said. The 19-year-old father agreed to come to Milwaukee police headquarters and was later arrested.

Details are sketchy at this point. The baby's name hasn't been released, and the D.A.'s office is expected to review the case on Monday.

We do know that a baby died of injuries "not consistent with an accident" and the baby's father was arrested.

Who knows how this particular case will play out?

In any event, I cannot grasp a father beating his infant child to death.
