Bristol Palin and Levi Johnston Split -- Reaction

The engagement is off.

Bristol Palin and Levi Johnston no longer plan to marry.

Reaction in the media has been snippy, unkind, and sarcastic. The comments on blogs are especially cruel.

Chicago Tribune: "No one saw this coming, right?"

Politico: "It's true. You probably don't believe it."

Los Angeles Times: "Bristol Palin, fiance Levi Johnston split. Surprised?"

Boston Herald: "And from the They Said It Wouldn’t Last File: Bristol Palin, the 18-year-old daughter of former GOP veep washout Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin, has broken off her engagement to Levi Johnston, the father of her 2 month-old son.

"Isn’t this the same Bristol Palin who told Fox News Channel’s Greta Van Susteren last month that her fiancee was a hands-on dad to their son, Tripp, and they hoped to marry after finishing their education?"

Christian Science Monitor: "Not even the Love Boat had a happy ending every time.

"Remember when Charo had a crush on Capitan Stubing and they didn’t end up together? Although we were all heartbroken, Charo moved on.

"So will Bristol Palin. For all we know, she may be the Charo of the 21st century.

"It’s true, Bristol and Levi Johnston are no longer. Splitsville. Toast. Done.

"Word of a breakup between Alaska Governor Sarah Palin’s daughter and Johnston, the father of their 2 1/2 month old baby, broke today. People close to the teenagers, however, say 'OMG! Yeah, that was so like ten years ago! Whatever…'

"Regardless of the exact time and date, the former lovebirds are no more."

Dallas Voice: "Remember back in the fall when John McCain assured America that he knew about Sarah Palin’s pregnant unwed daughter BEFORE he selected her as his running-mate? And then how Bristol and her sexy skating beau Levi Johnston announced that they 'planned to wed' in early 2009?

"Well, I — and many more people I am sure — made a prediction: They would NEVER get married if McCain didn’t win. That’s why the wedding wouldn’t be till well after the election — to give the teens an 'out' should the campaign fail. After all, it was never REALLY about making the baby legitimate, it was about appeasing the religious right who espouse (what a word!) family values while never actually believing in them. (Let’s see: McCain: divorced; Gingrinch: divorced; Reagan: divorced. Obama and Clinton: married to the same woman for eternity!)

"Now comes word that Bristol and Levi have called it quits. Those who are surprised probably think Bernie Madoff is being railroaded and continue to set out milk and cookies on Dec. 24."

Comments from the libs over at the Huffington Post are typically ugly.

Some examples:

"Another family made stronger by fundamentalist Christian 'values.'"

"It seemed so obvious to me that it was all show at the Repub Convent. They had to make a good show for Missy Palin."

"Poor guy probably thought about having Sarah Palin for a Mother In Law .Thank God the rest of us don't have to worry about having her for President!"

"After the election results were in the happiest man in the country was Barak Obama. The second happiest was Justice John Paul Stevens because he can now retire and the third happiest was Levi Johnston because the shotgun was pulled back from his head."

"She'll do what she and many other rethugs do; lie until Satan blushes. While I was here in the southern U.S., looking out of my window at Russia, I peeped in on the Palins, and all I saw was a bunch of dog-eared liars. Holy father, I beg you for a GOP ticket like Palin/Sanford. If I gotta go Lord, let me die laughing!!!"

"sooo, Bristol won't be able to cook chesse in a box with raw hotdogs every valentine's day for him anymore.... Whats the big deal media?"

"Sarah you're devistated because you belong to a guilt ridden party. Join the party of tolerance and forgiveness."

"I guess that means that there will never be a honeymoon tape leaked?"

"The whole charade of their marriage was to get the anti-abortion vote. If this young couple ever had a chance, being dragged into the spotlight unnecessarily as stage props for Ms. Sarah blew that away. Now there is no need to maintain the fiction any longer. Grandma Palin should not only be shocked - any normal mom would have guilt about how these mixed-up kids were abused to further her career."

Sheesh. The hatred shown toward the Palin family by the left is just astounding. Wow. Isn't hope and change wonderful? Isn't it great how kind and tolerant liberals are? Those comments from the Huf Post make Ann Coulter look like a sweet purring kitten.

Libs seem to have this knack for, on a regular basies proving what a bunch of hateful creeps they are.
