Will Ferrell hosted the season finale of Saturday Night Live.
Given Ferrell's politics, I guess it's not surprising that the show's opening was a Dick Cheney (Darrell Hammond) and George W. Bush (Ferrell) skit.
I was sure that Nancy Pelosi and disastrous news conference, including her accusations that the CIA lied, would be lampooned.
It wasn't even mentioned on Weekend Update. Pelosi's name didn't come up at all at any point during the show. Not once, not in any context.
That was more than a missed opportunity. It was really inexcusable.
Overall, the show was disappointing. It was filled with special guests and appearances from former cast members. All the different faces didn't help breathe life into the dull finale.
But I did enjoy seeing Norm MacDonald reprise his role as Burt Reynolds for "Celebrity Jeopardy."
I had hoped Will Ferrell would bring some excitement to end the lackluster season on a high note. No such luck.
Last week's show with Justin Timberlake as the host would have been a much better way to close out the season.
Note to Lorne Michaels: Get new writers.
