Republicans Blocking Health Care Reform?

Obama and his Democrat comrades think Americans are stupid.

Here's proof:

They are trying to blame Republicans for blocking health care reform.

From The Hill:

President Obama sharply criticized Republicans on Tuesday for following a “familiar script” to “block healthcare reform.”

The president, seeking to prod the Democratic-controlled Congress to show significant progress on healthcare reform before the August recess, directed blame at the GOP for the stalled legislation.

Obama blasted the "familiar script" of Republicans who "have openly declared their intention to block healthcare reform."

Harry Reid is playing the same card.

From Politico:

Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid followed President Barack Obama's lead today in blasting Republicans for opposing a plan to overhaul the nation’s health care system and create a government-subsidized insurance program.

“On something as important as health care you would think people would be interested in working together,” Reid told reporters Tuesday. “Republicans aren’t interested in working with Democrats. That’s pretty clear.”

Do Obama and Reid have problems with basic math?

Do they know how to count?

It certainly doesn't sound like it.

Rep. Michele Bachmann (R-Minn.) points out:

Dem=256/GOP=178 in the House; Dem=60/GOP=40 in the Senate. Republicans can’t block your health care reform Mr. President.

No Republican is standing in the way of Obama's plan to socialize medicine in the United States.

Obama and the Dems cannot fall back on this "party of no" crap.

The Republican Party cannot serve as a scapegoat for the Dems anymore.

It's extremely sleazy of Obama to blame Republicans for his failures. It's deceptive. It's another lie.

Just do the math.

it's quite a story when all of a sudden the republicans want to do something about health care when they have been in charge for a long time of the senate, congress and the white house, they have broken everything in a span of the last decade and now it is Obama's problem, he's trying to do all he can to fix this BS that was built by the republicans. If they keep this going, it will be another big hit on them come 2010 elections, they will pay as they have for the last 2 elections. They need to try and work with Obama rather than try and blame all thier wrong doings on him.

Tony, with all due respect, you seem a bit unfamiliar with recent history. To be credible, you need to back up your accusations with facts.

Bottom line: Obama is lying again. The Republicans aren't blocking Obama's plan for socialized medicine. They can't.

Do the math.

No. When votes are strictly along party lines as the increasingly are, the opposing party even when in the minority has a significant impact. To get a debate started and ultimately bring it to vote one needs 2/3 majority which with the numbers such as they are means the entire Dem caucus in the Senate. If even 5 GOP Senators support HCR it would be a completely different ballgame. Debate would have started ages ago and passage would be relatively smooth sailing.
Its a testmanet to the tolerance and openness of the Democratic party that we support Blue Dogs and other dissenting opinions as long as the share a core set of values. Dissent isn't tolerated in teh GOP, the answer to anything with a whiff of progressiveness is automatically NO. There is no room for debate, its simply NO. That's not politics thats just stupidity and if the GOP hopes to convince the American people that they are sincere they are going to need to do helluva lot more than NO.
