Nuclear Option

The Democrats were going to block every Supreme Court nomination by President Trump. Without question, Gorsuch is qualified. The Democrats' opposition to him is baseless.

Elections have consequences. Hillary Clinton lost. Democrats do not control the House or the Senate. The American people gave Republicans the power. Democrats need to deal with that.

The Democrats' partisan filibuster of Supreme Court nominee Judge Neil Gorsuch was unprecedented in U.S. history. The Democrats are responsible for the rule change.
Every single Republican voted to invoke the Reid Rule, including some who had expressed a strong hesitancy to do so; that's how indefensible Democrats' conduct has been. The Senate will now reach cloture on the nomination with 51 votes, setting up a final confirmation tomorrow. It's over. Neil Gorsuch will be the next Associate Justice of the United States Supreme Court.
Since that's what it takes, nuke it up!

There was no other option.

Goodbye, Harry Reid

Good things come to those who wait.

It's been a long, long wait, but Harry Reid is finally leaving.

That's very good.

Maria Cantwell - Redskins Name Change

The Democrats, the party of slavery and the party of vehement opposition to civil rights legislation, have decided the most pressing issue facing the nation is changing the name of the Washington Redskins.

Harry Reid, the man who called Obama a "'light-skinned' African American 'with no Negro dialect, unless he wanted to have one,'" believes that the Washington Redskins must be coerced into a name change.

Jobs? Education? Health care for veterans?

That stuff can wait, but we as a nation cannot move forward until the Washington Redskins are stripped of the name.

From AP, via ABC News:

Half the U.S. Senate urged NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell on Thursday to change the Washington Redskins' name, saying it is a racist slur and the time is ripe to replace it.

In one letter, 49 senators cited the NBA's quick action recently to ban Los Angeles Clippers owner Donald Sterling for life after he was heard on an audio recording making offensive comments about blacks. They said Goodell should formally push to rename the Redskins.

"We urge you and the National Football League to send the same clear message as the NBA did: that racism and bigotry have no place in professional sports," read the letter, which did not use the word "Redskins."

Sen. Bill Nelson, a Florida Democrat, wrote his own letter saying he doesn't believe that retaining the Redskin name "is appropriate in this day and age." He described himself as "one of your great fans for both the game and you personally."

...Last month, Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, D-Nev., took to the Senate floor to say Snyder should "do what is morally right" and change the name. Thursday's letters were aimed directly at Goodell.

...Reid and Sen. Maria Cantwell, D-Wash., led the letter-writing effort. All senators on the letter are Democrats. Cantwell spokesman Jared Leopold said Republicans were not asked to participate.

Cantwell later said on the Senate floor that she was inviting Republicans to sign the letter or write their own.

"I'm convinced that if each member of this body speaks on this issue and is forceful in their resolve, that we can help initiate change," she said.

Democrats not signing the letter were Tim Kaine and Mark Warner of nearby Virginia, where the team's headquarters are; Mark Pryor of Arkansas, in a tight re-election race this year; and Joe Manchin of West Virginia and Joe Donnelly of Indiana, two of their party's more moderate lawmakers.
These Democrats are insane.

A letter-writing campaign?

"Do what is morally right"?

Gee, maybe addressing the VA Scandal would be MORALLY RIGHT.

Maybe taking the deaths of four Americans in the Benghazi terrorist attack seriously, rather than dismissing the cover-up by the Obama administration as a phony scandal, would be MORALLY RIGHT.

It's outrageous that the Democrats are attempting to direct the nation's focus on the Redskins debate.

Is this really what we send senators to Washington to do, to write letters demanding that a team change its nickname?

That is pure lunacy.

Clearly, the Democrats want to talk about this issue rather than the train wreck that is ObamaCare or the litany of scandals embroiling Obama and his administration.

Maria Cantwell is really a piece of work.

Benghazi is not a phony scandal.

The use of the IRS to target and harass conservative Americans is not a phony scandal.

The fact that Obama knew the VA was seriously failing our veterans and did nothing to fix the abuses is not a phony scandal.

What is phony? The alleged outrage over the Redskins.

If Maria Cantwell really cares so much about the offensiveness of Redskins and its use is a moral outrage, why doesn't she write a little letter to get a high school in her home state to drop its own Redskins nickname?

From Seattle Weekly:

Here in the other Washington, after 90 years as the Redskins, Port Townsend High School agreed this year to drop its nickname, despite strong opposition. John Stroeder, a star player for the 1976 PT Redskins basketball team who went on the play for the Milwaukee Bucks, told the school board “If you change the name, I’m done here,” the Port Angeles Daily News reported. “I will take my jersey out of the [high school trophy] cabinet.” The Olympic Peninsula town’s school board is still mulling over a replacement mascot, however, so Redskins prevail for another season.

Same for the Willpinit High School Redskins, over in Spokane County. Except they have no plans to change their mascot. At a school where more than 90 percent of the students are Indian - in the heart of the Spokane Reservation where author Sherman Alexie was raised – they’re sticking with Redskins. Said Tim Ames, superintendent of Wellpinit schools, this week: “I’ve talked to our students, our parents and our community about this and nobody finds any offense at all in it. ‘Redskins’ is not an insult to our kids. ‘Wagon burners’ is an insult. ‘Prairie niggers’ is an insult. Those are very upsetting to our kids. But ‘Redskins’ is an honorable name we wear with pride. … In fact, I’d like to see somebody come up here and try to change it.”

Ames was talking to ESPN.com’s Ricky Reilly, who argued in favor of Redskins, in both Washingtons. He wondered how to tell the Willpinit Redskins the “name they wear proudly across their chests is insulting them. Because they have no idea.”
Interesting, isn't it?

Cantwell needs to get busy writing letters to the 90 percent of Native American students at Willpinit High School and inform them they are racists or bigots or just plain bad people for embracing a nickname like Redskins.

What is this really about?

The Democrats are using this small issue in the scheme of things to distract from other far more important matters.

It's a diversion to protect Obama. It's a way to keep people from the talking about the disaster that is the Obama presidency, home and abroad.

Harry Reid: ALL ObamaCare Horror Stories Untrue

Harry Reid had the audacity to declare, "Despite all that good news, there's plenty of horror stories being told. All of them are untrue. But they're being told all over America."

He made the despicable, prepared remarks on the record, speaking from the floor of the Senate on Wednesday morning. This wasn't a mistake. It wasn't a statement taken out of context. Reid clearly said that ObamaCare horror stories are ALL UNTRUE.

Here's video:

Reid's horrible comments elicited reaction from conservatives, including Sen. Ron Johnson.

The Senate majority leader later claimed he didn't mean what he said, a weasel move. His attempt at damage control failed.

From FOX News:

Reid tried to clarify his remarks late Wednesday by saying he was only referring to the “vast majority” of stories featured in ads funded by Americans for Prosperity, a conservative group, and not the complaints of everyday Americans. However, he added fuel to the fire by continuing to slam the group’s backers, the Koch brothers, calling them “un-American.”

Americans for Prosperity President Tim Phillips, in response, said Reid had effectively "attacked the character and integrity of every American who had the courage to share how they're being hurt by the president's health care law."

Sen. Ron Johnson, R-Wis., called Reid's original remarks "astounding and offensive."

...The outcry over Reid's comments from Republican lawmakers was swift. Sen. John Thune, R-S.D., said he is demanding Reid apologize to those who have felt ill effects from ObamaCare.

“The majority leader, and any Democrat who agrees with him, owes an apology to all Americans who are suffering under this disastrous law and whose personal stories he has dismissed as ‘untrue,’” he said.

The communications director for Sen. Roy Blunt, R-Mo., noted in a press release Blunt has taken it upon himself numerous times to read personal stories of ObamaCare’s negative impact on the Senate floor.
Read Ron Johnson's press release.
“Today Senator Reid stood on the floor of the Senate and called thousands of Wisconsinites liars.

“Here are his exact words about Obamacare: ”There’s plenty of horror stories being told. All of them are untrue.” Watch the video here. Senator Reid’s statement is not only shockingly offensive, it is ignorant and irresponsible.

“This is an astounding and offensive statement. I have heard directly from hundreds of individuals, families, and businesses in Wisconsin who are being truly harmed by the law – premiums increasing by several hundred percent or the health plans that they liked and wanted to keep are being lost.

“It is shocking, even in today’s crass political climate, that the leader of the Senate Democrats would have the audacity to say outright that those real people with real stories are all liars. An apology is in order. And if Senator Reid truly believes what he says, then he needs to step outside of the Washington, D.C., bubble to listen and see what is really happening in this country.”
Reid won't apologize, even though he's the liar and not all the people he accused of lying when they share their ObamaCare horror stories.

Reid lies about ObamaCare.

Obama lies about ObamaCare.

Why?

Because it's a real disaster and it's hurting real people.

Leno: ObamaCare Jokes, November 14, 2013

JAY LENO: A lot of Democrats are now starting to distance themselves from ObamaCare. Earlier this week, Bill Clinton made some critical comments. And today, Harry Reid got a letter from his mortician telling him his coverage had been cancelled. No more embalming fluid. That's it!

Well, at a press conference earlier today, President Obama talked about healthcare.gov, and he said buying health insurance is never going to be as easy as buying a song on iTunes. Well, the answer is simple. Fire the website people and hire the people from iTunes. There you go. Exactly. Couldn't be easier.

And instead of giving a rebuttal after President Obama's speech, House Speaker John Boehner gave a 'prebuttal' before the speech, a 'prebuttal.' Doesn't that sound like a procedure that should be covered under ObamaCare?

Leno: Government Shutdown Jokes, October 2, 2013

JAY LENO: Here is a very frightening story, ladies and gentlemen. Scientists in Stockholm say hundreds of jellyfish have shut down a nuclear reactor. Hey, that's nothing. In our country, a bunch of spineless jellyfish have shut down the entire government. That is nothing.

This is unbelievable. The government is shut down. Even al Qaeda couldn't do that. Do you realize that?

And as you know, all nonessential employees were sent home - like President Obama's economic team. They all got sent home.

Well, to all you nonessential employees who have been forced out of your job... Hey, I work for NBC. I know how you feel, OK? I know how you feel.

Well, in a recent poll of AOL users, 51 percent of respondents blame the Republicans for the shutdown while 49 percent blame the Democrats. Isn't that amazing? There's still people using AOL? Really?

Do you understand this whole government shutdown thing? I mean, I know it's about President Obama's health care plan, but the Republicans are the ones making us bend over.

And because of the shutdown, even the Smithsonian Institute is closed. And as a result, tourists who come to Washington and want to see historical relics... they're now being sent to John McCain's office.

You can see the effects of the shutdown all over town. It's terrible.

President Obama now down to just one teleprompter - that's how bad it is.

It is so bad the animals at the National Zoo are being auctioned off to HomeTown Buffet. That's how bad it is.

It is so bad Iran will now be forced to negotiate with Dennis Rodman. That's how bad it's gotten.

It's hurting everybody. In fact, Nancy Pelosi and John Kerry are now being forced to use the same Botox needle. That's how bad it's gotten.

At the TSA, they're making passengers fondle and grope themselves. That's how bad...

It is so bad a lot of government workers are now watching reruns of Breaking Bad just to get the meth recipes. That's how bad it's gotten.

It is so bad John Boehner can't afford tanning cream anymore. He's just rubbing his face with Cheetos dust. That's how bad.

It is so bad Harry Reid has been forced to change his own embalming fluid. That's how bad it's gotten.

Harry Reid: Kids With Cancer

This is nauseating.

Harry Reid is a disgrace.

Poor Harry claims he was misunderstood.

If you did care, Harry, then you would cut the crap and permit the suffering kids to receive treatment.

A life and death matter should fall under ESSENTIAL services.

Jerk.

Harry Reid: Medical Device Tax 'Stupid'

Harry Reid regrets telling the truth about ObamaCare's medical device tax.

He says it's stupid.

Of course, he's against repealing the stupid tax.

He's a Democrat.

Video from Weasel Zippers, via Mark Levin:

Reid "clarified" his revealing remarks:

Clarifying comments he made earlier Thursday, aides to Senate Majority Leader Harry M. Reid (D-Nev.) said that he does not agree with the idea of repealing a tax on medical devices used to fund the new federal health-care law as part of a short-term spending measure to fund government operations.

At his weekly news conference, Reid called the tax itself "stupid," but later his spokesman, Adam Jentleson, sent an e-mail clarifying the senator's comments.

"Senator Reid thinks the idea of attaching the medical device tax repeal to the CR or the debt ceiling is ‘stupid,'" Jentleson said. "Senator Reid supports the medical device tax, and his position is clear from his record: he voted for the medical device tax in the Affordable Care Act and against repealing it during the budget debate earlier this year. His position has not changed, and the Senate will reject any CR that includes a repeal of the medical device tax. If the House wants to avoid a Republican government shutdown, they should pass a clean CR. Period.”
Such idiocy!

John McCain Snarks Ted Cruz

John McCain's comments about Ted Cruz make me sick.

McCain joined Harry Reid, Dick Durbin, Chuck Schumer and the Leftist cabal in smearing him.

That sort of behavior contributed to McCain's loss in the 2008 presidential election.

McCain helped elect Obama. Without Obama, we wouldn't be on the brink of a socialist single payer health care system.

I blame McCain and his ilk.

Unions and ObamaCare

When Big Labor isn't happy, the Democrats aren't happy.

ObamaCare presents a problem.

From the Wall Street Journal:

The leaders of three major U.S. unions, including the highly influential Teamsters, have sent a scathing letter to Democratic leaders in Congress, warning that unless changes are made, President Obama’s health care reform plan will “destroy the foundation of the 40 hour work week that is the backbone of the American middle class.”

If that’s not bad enough, the Affordable Care Act, if not modified, will “destroy the very health and wellbeing of our members along with millions of other hardworking Americans,” the letter says.

The full letter, below:
Dear Leader Reid and Leader Pelosi:

When you and the President sought our support for the Affordable Care Act (ACA), you pledged that if we liked the health plans we have now, we could keep them. Sadly, that promise is under threat. Right now, unless you and the Obama Administration enact an equitable fix, the ACA will shatter not only our hard-earned health benefits, but destroy the foundation of the 40 hour work week that is the backbone of the American middle class.

Like millions of other Americans, our members are front-line workers in the American economy. We have been strong supporters of the notion that all Americans should have access to quality, affordable health care. We have also been strong supporters of you. In campaign after campaign we have put boots on the ground, gone door-to-door to get out the vote, run phone banks and raised money to secure this vision.

Now this vision has come back to haunt us.

Since the ACA was enacted, we have been bringing our deep concerns to the Administration, seeking reasonable regulatory interpretations to the statute that would help prevent the destruction of non-profit health plans. As you both know first-hand, our persuasive arguments have been disregarded and met with a stone wall by the White House and the pertinent agencies. This is especially stinging because other stakeholders have repeatedly received successful interpretations for their respective grievances. Most disconcerting of course is last week’s huge accommodation for the employer community—extending the statutorily mandated “December 31, 2013” deadline for the employer mandate and penalties.

Time is running out: Congress wrote this law; we voted for you. We have a problem; you need to fix it. The unintended consequences of the ACA are severe. Perverse incentives are already creating nightmare scenarios:

First, the law creates an incentive for employers to keep employees’ work hours below 30 hours a week. Numerous employers have begun to cut workers’ hours to avoid this obligation, and many of them are doing so openly. The impact is two-fold: fewer hours means less pay while also losing our current health benefits.

Second, millions of Americans are covered by non-profit health insurance plans like the ones in which most of our members participate. These non-profit plans are governed jointly by unions and companies under the Taft-Hartley Act. Our health plans have been built over decades by working men and women. Under the ACA as interpreted by the Administration, our employees will treated differently and not be eligible for subsidies afforded other citizens. As such, many employees will be relegated to second-class status and shut out of the help the law offers to for-profit insurance plans.

And finally, even though non-profit plans like ours won’t receive the same subsidies as for-profit plans, they’ll be taxed to pay for those subsidies. Taken together, these restrictions will make non-profit plans like ours unsustainable, and will undermine the health-care market of viable alternatives to the big health insurance companies.

On behalf of the millions of working men and women we represent and the families they support, we can no longer stand silent in the face of elements of the Affordable Care Act that will destroy the very health and wellbeing of our members along with millions of other hardworking Americans.

We believe that there are common-sense corrections that can be made within the existing statute that will allow our members to continue to keep their current health plans and benefits just as you and the President pledged. Unless changes are made, however, that promise is hollow.

We continue to stand behind real health care reform, but the law as it stands will hurt millions of Americans including the members of our respective unions.

We are looking to you to make sure these changes are made.

ObamaCare Exemption for Lawmakers

NO FAIR!

From Politico:

Congressional leaders in both parties are engaged in high-level, confidential talks about exempting lawmakers and Capitol Hill aides from the insurance exchanges they are mandated to join as part of President Barack Obama’s health care overhaul, sources in both parties said.

The talks — which involve Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.), House Speaker John Boehner (R-Ohio), the Obama administration and other top lawmakers — are extraordinarily sensitive, with both sides acutely aware of the potential for political fallout from giving carve-outs from the hugely controversial law to 535 lawmakers and thousands of their aides. Discussions have stretched out for months, sources said.

...Yet if Capitol Hill leaders move forward with the plan, they risk being dubbed hypocrites by their political rivals and the American public. By removing themselves from a key Obamacare component, lawmakers and aides would be held to a different standard than the people who put them in office.
They "risk being dubbed hypocrites"?

If lawmakers grant themselves an exemption they won't risk being dubbed hypocrites. They will be rightly exposed as hypocrites, the lowest of the low, scum. I could go on.

Yeah, I don't think an ObamaCare exemption for legislators and their aides is a good idea.

Harry Reid insists the exemption talks have never happened.

Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.) quickly shot down speculation about a possible "exemption" for lawmakers and staff from the central part of ObamaCare.

Reid spokesman Adam Jentleson said Reid has never considered exempting members and staff from the law's insurance exchanges, and will not consider it in the future.

"There are not now, have never been, nor will there ever be any discussions about exempting members of Congress or Congressional staff from Affordable Care Act provisions that apply to any employees of any other public or private employer offering health care," Jentelson said.
I don't trust Reid.

John McCain Misses Benghazi Briefing

Obama and his allies, the media Leftists, are trashing John McCain because he dared to challenge Obama about Benghazi. He dared to speak up.

Naturally, the New York Times attacks McCain, punishing him for demanding accountability on the part of Obama and his surrogates.

The Leftists are crucifying McCain, criticizing him for missing a briefing on Benghazi.

Poor John McCain. The senior senator from Arizona, former presidential candidate and general Republican big-man-in-Washington was so busy on Wednesday complaining about President Obama’s handling of the Benghazi mission killings that he just didn’t have time to do his actual job and attend a hearing on the Benghazi mission killings.

Mr. McCain has said he wants to get to the bottom of what he seems absolutely certain was a catastrophic bungling of the Libyan situation by Mr. Obama and his team. He is proposing holding “Watergate-style” hearings on the matter, with lots of witnesses and of course, lots of television cameras.

But yesterday, when the Senate Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee received a classified briefing on the Benghazi issue, Mr. McCain was absent. His spokesman Brian Rogers blamed a “scheduling error.”
CNN's Dana Bash is also slamming McCain. Wolf Blitzer joins in the fun.

Here's video:

Good grief.

This Benghazi cover-up is a disgrace.

The story should not be about McCain's attendance at a briefing, especially given that Obama, the PRESIDENT, doesn't bother to show up for his daily intelligence briefings.

The liberal media didn't care about the revelation that Obama was MIA for his PDB, attending only about 38 percent. No, of course not. They're much more concerned about McCain missing one briefing on Benghazi.

Obama, as always, relies on the lib media to support his narrative and they're eager to oblige.

It's outrageous.

Instead of digging for answers about Obama's handling of Benghazi, they're berating McCain.

Sometimes, I really can't believe how over-the-top the media are when it comes to the lengths they go to protect their beloved leader, Obama.

I can't believe how shamelessly they play the race card.

What Susan Rice did, giving the American people false information on five Sunday shows in one day, has nothing to do with the color of her skin or her gender. Obama sent her out to lie about Benghazi. Maybe she didn't know she was deceiving Americans, but she did play a part in an orchestrated cover-up. Her race and sex have nothing to do with McCain wanting the truth about the 9/11/12 Benghazi attack.

The racial BS from the Leftists drives me nuts.

Dana Bash reported how a "Democratic source" framed McCain and Lindsey Graham's call for an investigation into the deaths of four Americans in Benghazi. The source wants the focus of the story to be on the Republicans attacking Susan Rice, framing it in racial terms.
DANA BASH: I talked to a good Democratic source here asking, "Do you think if she is nominated you could overcome a filibuster?" The answer was yes, and I'd have to tell you this, that this source said, 'If anybody wants to watch two old white guys,' speaking of course of Graham and McCain, 'beat up on a black woman, I'll sell tickets to that.' So there is politics all around here.
I am so sick of this "old white guys" stuff.

We had a terrorist attack on our consulate. We have four Americans killed. And Obama and his allies are deflecting from the legitimate concerns about that terrorist attack by turning the issue into a racial attack on Susan Rice.

Disgraceful.

In reality, the Leftists have turned being white into a fatal flaw. It's crazy. Being white is not a crime.

Furthermore, Lindsey Graham is not exactly old. He's six years older than Obama. Is Obama an "old half-white, half-black guy"? (Sounds offensive, doesn't it?)

I never heard Ted Kennedy marginalized as an "old white guy." Bill Clinton is 66. No one is beating up on him for being an "old white guy."

Harry Reid is about to turn 73. When he would beat up on Condoleezza Rice, his age and race never were discussed as factoring into his motivation.

Do the Leftists realize how inconsistent their remarks are when it comes to age and race?

Do they realize how ridiculous they appear for bashing McCain for missing a single meeting when Obama habitually relies on his "Sgt. Schultz" routine?

Reince Priebus: 'We're Going to Punch Back'

Reince Priebus is a fighter.

He's not going to back down when the Democrats spew their lies. He's not going to cower in the corner and allow the Democrats to take our country in a direction that assures its downfall.

From FOX News:

Republican National Committee chairman, Reince Priebus, has emerged as the “unapologetic defender” of his party. He sat down with Sean Hannity to discuss the presidential campaign and some notable comments he has recently made, including calling Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid a “dirty liar.”

Priebus stands by his comments and told Hannity, “I can’t backtrack, it was true and it remains true. We’ve got a real opportunity here to save the American dream in this country and I really think that this president has a problem with the American dream.”

The chairman said, “We’re going to be aggressive, and so my view is if they want to punch us, we’re going to punch back with brass knuckles and that’s what we have to do.”

Priebus is doing a great job.

He's fighting to save the American Dream, a good fight.

Ron Johnson: Lack of Budget a 'National Scandal'

Ron Johnson calls the Democrats' failure to pass a budget, under Obama's "phoning it in" leadership, a "national scandal."

I agree with his assessment. It is a scandal.

From the Daily Caller:

White House spokesman Jay Carney said Wednesday that President Obama has no opinion on Federal Reserve Chairman Ben Bernanke’s assessment that not having a budget creates uncertainty and could damage the economy.

That should be a “national scandal,” according to Wisconsin Republican Sen. Ron Johnson, who lambasted Senate Democrats and Obama for not attempting to pass a budget.

Johnson asked Bernanke at a Tuesday hearing if not passing a federal budget was a problem, even though there were spending caps in place from the Budget Control Act.

“Is uncertainty about the future of the tax code, government programs and so on a negative for growth?” said Bernanke at the Senate Budget Committee hearing. “I think it is, because firms like to have certainty, like to be able to plan.”

Carney was asked by Jake Tapper of ABC News about that comment, and whether the president agrees with Bernanke, or with Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, who has said it is not necessary to pass a budget this year.

“I have no opinion, the White House has no opinion on Chairman Bernanke’s assessment of how the Senate ought to do it’s business,” said Carney. “What the president believes is important is that the Budget Control Act that was signed into law last year provides the top line spending caps for the coming budget and he will obviously meet those in the budget proposal he puts forward.”

NO OPINION?

The White House has NO OPINION on the Senate's failure to pass a budget?

We need a president who is willing to lead and be engaged in more than NCAA brackets and oppressing Catholics.

Watch Ron Johnson discuss the issue:

I am so glad Ron Johnson is representing me in the U.S. Senate. Finally, I have a voice.

Thank you, Sen. Johnson.

Thank you, fellow Wisconsinites, for voting to fire Russ Feingold.

1,000 Days - NO BUDGET

The Democrat-controlled U.S. Senate under Harry Reid has failed to pass a budget for 1,000 days.

When Obama delivers his State of the Union address tonight, keep in mind that January 24, 2012, marks the 1,000th since the Senate has passed a budget.

Unbelievable. Inexcusable. Disgraceful.

Here's a must-read from The Foundry:

Tuesday, January 24, will mark the 1,000th day since the U.S. Senate has passed a budget—an egregious dereliction of duty on Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid’s (D–NV) watch. By enacting continuing resolution upon continuing resolution (short-term measures to keep the government running, spending money at the current rate), the Senate has taken a pass on leading, all to the detriment of the poor and middle class.

The budget process forces Congress to set priorities to protect the people’s money and put it to its appropriate use. Instead, the Democrat-controlled Senate has abdicated its responsibility. The result? The deficit is soaring, causing a looming tax burden and injecting uncertainty into the economy, leaving jobs and economic growth on the table. It’s no wonder the U.S. economy’s growth is so tepid.

As the 1,000th day nears, here are some facts about America’s budget and why the Senate must take action to be stewards of the people’s money as the Constitution requires:
•The last time the Senate passed a budget was on April 29, 2009.

•Since that date, the federal government has spent $9.4 trillion, adding $4.1 trillion in debt.

•As of January 20, the outstanding public debt stands at $15,240,174,635,409.

•Interest payments on the debt are now more than $200 billion per year.

•President Obama proposed a FY2012 budget last year, and the Senate voted it down 97–0. (And that budget was no prize—according to the Congressional Budget Office, that proposal never had an annual deficit of less than $748 billion, would double the national debt in 10 years and would see annual interest payments approach $1 trillion per year.)

•The Senate rejected House Budget Committee Chairman Paul Ryan’s (R–WI) budget by 57–40 in May 2011, with no Democrats voting for it.

•In FY2011, Washington spent $3.6 trillion. Compare that to the last time the budget was balanced in 2001, when Washington spent $1.8 trillion ($2.1 trillion when you adjust for inflation).

•Entitlement spending will more than double by 2050. That includes spending on Medicare, Medicaid and the Obamacare subsidy program, and Social Security. Total spending on federal health care programs will triple.

•By 2050, the national debt is set to hit 344 percent of Gross Domestic Product.

•Taxes paid per household have risen dramatically, hitting $18,400 in 2010 (compared with $11,295 in 1965). If the 2001 and 2003 tax cuts expire and more middle-class Americans are required to pay the alternative minimum tax (AMT), taxes will reach unprecedented levels.

•Federal spending per household is skyrocketing. Since 1965, spending per household has grown by nearly 162 percent, from $11,431 in 1965 to $29,401 in 2010. From 2010 to 2021, it is projected to rise to $35,773, a 22 percent increase.

Despite all of these blatant red flags, the Senate has utterly failed to execute the most basic, fundamental function of governance at the worst possible time—when the country’s fiscal house is in disarray, the U.S. credit rating is in continual jeopardy, entitlement spending is ballooning, defense spending is on the chopping block, and the economy is in shambles.

One thousand days without a budget is an embarrassing number, but the level of spending, deficits, and taxation that results from the Senate’s failure to exact even a modicum of fiscal discipline is terrifying. Senator Reid has said it would be “foolish” to pass a budget, but failing to pass it is proving to be beyond irresponsible. The middle class will be left holding the bag, paying for the Senate’s reckless negligence with soaring deficits, higher taxes, and a weak economy as far as the eye can see.

Harry Reid has quite a legacy.

Talk about a DO-NOTHING Senate!

This can't go on. Time for a change. The Democrats are miserable failures.
