Karl Rove: Reid, Pelosi, and the Unsolicited E-Mails

About those unsolicited e-mails sent out by the White House--

Karl Rove describes how he imagines the Democrats would have reacted if he had pulled a stunt like that. If he had sent out unsolicited e-mails the way the Obama administration has been doing, it would be a huge story.

Rove's account is quite detailed and rather graphic.

His point is valid. The double standard is so clear, and so sickening.

The Obama White House is sliding by on an entirely different set of standards than those that were applied to President Bush and his administration.

TRACE GALLAGHER: Brad Blakeman for Politico and the LA Times opinion piece have said, you know, 'If Karl Rove had done this, there'd be calls for his resignation.' I mean, there would be pillorying in the public square.

KARL ROVE: Yeah. Look, I'd be on a cart being dragged down Pennsylvania Avenue on top of a bunch of... on a bunch of hay and taken to a giant mound of firewood, where I'd be tied to a post. And Nancy Pelosi would take a pitch, a lighted pitch, and throw it onto the firewood if I had done this.

I mean, look, this is amazing to me what these people are able to get away with.

If the Bush White House had done this, you're right. Harry Reid and Nancy Pelosi would have had me out for a little barbecue on the National Mall.

I think Rove is correct.

Reid and Pelosi would have pounced on this and the hacks in the media would have latched on to the story.

It would have been a major scandal.

But because it's the Obama White House, no big whoop.
