Leno: ACORN Commercial

Jay Leno is still steering clear of making jokes about Obama, but on Wednesday's show he did take on ACORN.

Of course, the corrupt ACORN is connected with the Obama administration; but unless he Leno uses Obama's name I don't count it as an Obama joke.

Calling it "APORN," Leno set up a spoof commercial.

JAY LENO: Oh and of course there's that big scandal with APORN, I mean, ACORN. I'm sorry.

Do you know what they say? Have you heard about this? ACORN, they're an organization that gets government money to help poor people. Well, now they're in a lot of trouble. It seems these two filmmakers went to ACORN's office posing as a pimp and a prostitute, saying they wanted to buy a house and run it as a brothel, and ACORN workers gave them advice on how to get away with prostitution and how to avoid paying taxes.

See, here's my question: If they want to get away with prostitution and not paying taxes, go to Congress. These are the professionals. These are the people that know.... I mean, I had a hunch that this was coming. Did you see that commercial? Take a look.

The "commercial" doesn't pull any punches.
POLITICIAN: When I ran for office in Nevada, I found myself 50,000 votes behind in the polls. ACORN helped me get the "extra" votes I needed. Thank you, ACORN.

PROSTITUTE: I'm a professional. In my line of work, it doesn't come easy. Sometimes it takes like... 45 minutes? So, like my customers, I want to get the most bang for my buck. ACORN showed me how to save the most at tax time. Thank you, ACORN. I owe you one. Call me.

DRUG DEALER: As a narcotics entrepreneur, I bring in a lot of money, mostly cash. I thought I owed $200,000 in taxes. ACORN said I owed nothing. Thank you, ACORN.

(Cell phone rings.)

Oh, I gotta take this call. It's Amy Winehouse.

ANNOUNCER: ACORN. We'll help you get away with stuff.

I wonder if Charlie Gibson got the joke. He's not really up on major news stories.

The audience responded to the jokes, laughing and applauding. People certainly knew about the scandal.

It's weird that the ACORN scandal would get as much or more coverage on Leno's show than it does by the lib media outlets.
