Mark Neumann formally kicked off his campaign to be the next governor of Wisconsin this morning.
He made the announcement during an online press conference: "'Campaign conversation' launched with historic use of cutting‐edge technology, state tour."
Highlighting the importance of creating the jobs of the future now, Mark Neumann is discussing his candidacy for governor of Wisconsin today using technology to connect with the press and public from Superior to Kenosha and all points in between.
In what is believed to be the first such event ever held in Wisconsin, Neumann will speak with news reporters simultaneously from across the state this morning via an online news conference. Reporters can ask questions in virtual real time via webcam and by telephone.
“A clear vision and innovation are needed to bring the jobs of the 21st century to Wisconsin and we are ready to lead the state out of the past and into the future,” Neumann stated. “We want to set the tone for this campaign and start a conversation by using technology to bring the entire state together. The effective use of technology, creativity and innovation will allow us to streamline government, reduce taxes and bring jobs back to Wisconsin."
Politicians regularly hold online press conferences, but often require members of the press to pre‐submit questions, which can then be screened. The Neumann press conference will rely on technology that mimics a real‐world press conference by allowing members of the press to ask unscreened questions online, in real time.
In addition, this evening starting at 6 PM, Neumann will host a live, online town hall event allowing any Wisconsin resident to log on and ask questions. Anyone interested in participating can do so at http://live.markforgov.com/
