Obama's Health Care Speech (Transcript)

Tonight Obama put lipstick on a pig.

Obama assembled both houses of Congress and hijacked prime time TV to deliver a speech on health care.

There he was, looking left and right, left and right, left and right, at his teleprompters.

There was Joe Biden, looking as if he wished he could be talking. There was Nancy Pelosi, wearing a bright red Santa Claus suit, looking unnatural, chewing on something, and blinking incessantly.

And Obama talked. Same old, same old. Platitudes, promises, distortions, lies. Blah, blah, blah.

As usual, Obama was the Fearmongerer-in-Chief, the Liar-in-Chief, the "I'm really a moderate and not a radical Leftist"-in-Chief.

While Obama complains about the "scare tactics" he claims have clouded the health care debate, he engages in scare tactics himself.

With all due respect, that's just buffoonish. He should act like the president, not a sleazy candidate putting out a deceptive campaign commercial.

If Obama auditioned to play the role of the president in a movie, I don't think he'd get the part. He wouldn't get the part even in a low budget movie. Mr. Cool isn't cool. He's a bad actor. He's unconvincing as a president.

What's important to remember is this: NOTHING has changed.

Obama is selling the same crap that he was selling before he trotted off to Martha's Vineyard and Camp David. He keeps trying to repackage it, but it's the same.

Obama's goal is a single-payer system, a government-run plan for all.

Here is the truth:

OBAMA: I happen to be a proponent of a single payer universal health care program. I see no reason why the United States of America, the wealthiest country in the history of the world, spending 14 percent of its Gross National Product on health care cannot provide basic health insurance to everybody. And that’s what Jim is talking about when he says everybody in, nobody out. A single payer health care plan, a universal health care plan. And that’s what I’d like to see. But as all of you know, we may not get there immediately. Because first we have to take back the White House, we have to take back the Senate, and we have to take back the House.

Obama has the White House. He has the Senate and the House. Now Obama wants to make good on his vision of subjecting all Americans, with the exception of himself and his family and Congress and other government employees, to a disastrous government-run system.

Obama wants government to control our health care, which means our very lives.

I am sick of Obama's lies, his warnings, and his demands.

Who the hell does this guy think he is?

Incremental reform makes sense. Fix what's broken. Obama says that's what he'll do, but that's not the plan.

Why in God's name should we trust Obama and the Democrats to take over one-sixth of our economy?

How will we pay for what they're proposing?

I need specifics. Obama is still not offering specifics.

Why?

Obama is making promises he can't keep, and worse, promises he doesn't intend to keep.

Obama flat-out lied when he said his plan won't cover ILLEGAL immigrants. He flat-out lied when he said it won't cover abortion. He lied when he told Republicans that his door is always open. We know that's not the case.

Obama flat-out lied when he said, "I will not sign a plan that adds one dime to our deficits – either now or in the future. Period."

I will entertain the possibility that Obama isn't lying about the cost of his takeover of health care. Perhaps Obama is being Clintonesque. He won't sign a plan that adds one dime to our deficits. He'll only sign a plan that adds a gazillion bajillion dimes to our deficits.

The exploitation of Ted Kennedy's death was awful, but, sadly, expected.

Obama pretended to be a moderate tonight, but he's not. We know that. No lie.

Despite hefty Democratic majorities in both the House and the Senate, centrists in Obama’s party have balked at the president’s proposal to create a public health care plan to compete with private insurers.

Did you even listen to his speech? Your rant is misguided and wrong. You simply do not want to listen to what he's got to say. No matter what he says, you will dismiss it. I'm pretty sure if Rush Limbaugh had spoken something like this, you would say that it was the most mind blowing speech that you had ever heard. And what's wrong with a public plan along side the private options? He isn't going to force anyone to accept it. You must be really good at judging people to know that he was lying. Do you have proof that he was lying? Please refrain from taking the Lord's name in vain. And learn a little bit about socialism before accusing others of it.
