Harry Reid: Obama 'Light-skinned,' 'No Negro Dialect'

The purge of the Dems continues...

Obama and his henchmen are seeing to it that any weak link is removed.

Harry Reid is weak and his days are numbered.

From the Atlantic:

On page 37, a remark, said "privately" by Sen. Harry Reid, about Barack Obama's racial appeal. Though Reid would later say that he was neutral in the presidential race, the truth, the authors write, was that his
encouragement of Obama was unequivocal. He was wowed by Obama's oratorical gifts and believed that the country was ready to embrace a black presidential candidate, especially one such as Obama -- a "light-skinned" African American "with no Negro dialect, unless he wanted to have one," as he said privately. Reid was convinced, in fact, that Obama's race would help him more than hurt him in a bid for the Democratic nomination.

OK, white guy Chris Matthews, what do you have to say about this white guy Reid's racist comments?

Actually, Reid's comments remind me of Joe Biden saying, "I mean, you got the first mainstream African-American who is articulate and bright and clean and a nice-looking guy. I mean, that's a storybook, man."

Joe Biden didn't pay a political price for that. He was rewarded with the vice presidency.

Can you imagine what the response would be if a Republican said what Reid said?

He or she would be crucified. Al Sharpton would be organizing marches and demanding a public flogging.

I'm sure Reid will avoid that spectacle but I still think Team Obama is trying to get rid of him. They certainly aren't buoying him up.

Reid has apologized.

"I deeply regret using such a poor choice of words," said Reid in a statement. "I sincerely apologize for offending any and all Americans, especially African Americans for my improper comments."

Reid called the president today to apologize and reiterated his regret for making the comments, his spokesman Jim Manley said Saturday afternoon.

Reid's poor choice of words could have been worse.

At least Reid didn't use a term as offensive as the honorable Robert Byrd's use of the epithet, "white nigger," to describe Obama.
