Obama: Don't Go to Vegas, Part Deux

I think it's fitting that on Groundhog Day, Obama would pull a Groundhog Day type of scene of his own.

One year ago, just about two weeks after his inauguration, Obama got in trouble for his anti-Vegas promotion.

How does he commemorate that screw-up?

He repeats it.

Amazing!

And Obama is touted as brilliant, the most intelligent president the country has ever had. EVER!

OBAMA: Now, these deficits won’t just burden our kids and our grandkids decades from now -- they could damage our markets now, they could drive up our interest rates now, they could jeopardize our recovery right now.

Responsible families don’t do their budgets the way the federal government does. Right? When times are tough, you tighten your belts. You don’t go buying a boat when you can barely pay your mortgage. You don’t blow a bunch of cash on Vegas when you’re trying to save for college. You prioritize. You make tough choices. It’s time your government did the same.

What is wrong with Obama?

How could he single out Vegas AGAIN?

From the Washington Post:

Nevada lawmakers lashed out at President Barack Obama on Tuesday after he made another reference to Las Vegas while explaining how people should make tough choices on spending.

The issue is sensitive to Sin City because its economy is largely based on tourism, and several lawmakers said they were shocked that Obama singled out Las Vegas again after commenting one year ago about bailed-out banks holding meetings here.

Really amazing.

Absolutely amazing that Obama could be so stupid.

..."I'll do everything I can to give him the boot," Las Vegas Mayor Oscar Goodman said during a hastily called news conference, adding that he was incensed when he heard about the comments and said he would no longer welcome the president here if he visits.

"This president is a real slow learner," said Goodman, who is not affiliated with a political party.

"Enough is enough!" Democratic Congresswoman Shelley Berkley said in a statement. "President Obama needs to stop picking on Las Vegas and he needs to let Americans decide for themselves how and where to spend their hard-earned vacation dollars."

If Obama is true to form, in early February 2011, he will tell people not to go to Vegas. Bet on it.
